CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 4 reviews)

Good but superficial by STARVINGSTUDENT (California) 3 Stars
July 29, 2008
I got this book because it had 3 great reviews plus there was a CD that came along with it. However, after bringing them to class/lab, I realize that the content was very superficial. I looked at my friend's perio book from Pattison (another supposed well-known hygiene instructor) and the instructions for instrumentation were so much more in depth. Although Pattison's pictures are in black-and-white, it was still a better book overall. I'd recommend buying Pattison's and skip this unless you have an EXCELLENT instructor already (which I didn't).

Fundamentals of Periodontal Instrumentation by Rebecca A. Sroda 5 Stars
April 02, 2008
This is the best resource for teaching and learning periodontal instrumentation on the market. It is written in such a way that each small movement is reduced to exact detail so that scaling becomes an art and science.

This is a Super Text! by Christine Dominick (Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene,Boston, Massachusetts) 5 Stars
March 29, 2008
I have been teaching dental hygiene instrumentation since 1971, now I wonder how instructors ever did it without a text like "Fundamentals of Periodontal Instrumentation and Advanced Root Instrumentation." This text provides the words and the images so that our students "get it". It is amazinig how everything is broken down into clear steps with prompts that help put everything together. This is not just a text for schools. Practicing hygienists get this text. I guarantee you will be amazed at how much you will learn. You won't be able to put it down.

DH Educator's Choice by Cynthia Biron Leiseca (Tallahassee, FL) 5 Stars
March 29, 2008
This is by far the MOST CURRENT and methodical periodontal instrumentation book ever written! This latest edition contains fabulous photos in color and every skill is presented in an easy to follow step by step format. The author, Jill S. Nield-Gehrig, is known by the educators' as "The Genius of Dental Hygiene Education". It is no wonder that "Fundamentals of Periodontal Instrumentation and Advanced Root Instrumentation" is the dental hygiene educator's choice for students. In fact, in 2007, more educators adopted this dental hygiene text than any other clinical dental hygiene text on the market! If you want to teach or learn the latest techniques that are based on sound current research in ergonomics and effectivness, this is the ONLY book you will need.
