| Not a review of the 3rd edition, just a comment by Pathologist (Hawaii) 3 Stars August 05, 2008 Although Rosen's breast pathology is an excellent textbook, you need reviews pertaining to the third edition. Every practicing pathologist knows the textbook. What we need to know is how the third edition measures up to the previous editions.
I have not yet seen the latest book so I cannot discuss the third edition.
| | The definitive text by LDG in Montgomery (Montgomery, AL United States) 5 Stars March 14, 2007 This is IMHO the definitive of all breast pathology texts out there. Illustrations vary in quality, but the text is solid & clear. Second ed came out in 2001, so we may be due for another update before too long...we will have to wait to see if Dr. Rosen continues to write most of it or turns it over to someone else. There are plenty of controversial & evolving topics (ADH/DCIS & CCC), but this text does an admirable job of dealing with them despite the book's starting to show its age. The Tavassoli text is even older (2nd ed in 1999).
| | Lifesaver by Pam Hennon (Los Angeles County (Chatsworth)) 5 Stars March 24, 2004 In 2000-01, I had 3 lumpectomies. All my mammograms were negative. The 3rd lump was excised when I was 62. I was a cytotechnologist for Unilab in Tarzana, CA. My medical director, Dr. Adele Hieshima, had a copy of Dr. Rosen's book on breast pathology. We went over it together. I was amazed at how many types of breast cancer there were. Cancer was revealed in my 3rd lumpectomy, but Kaiser could not identify it. They sent my tissue to a specialist in New York. I was surprised to receive the pathology report from Dr. Rosen himself, along with page numbers to consult in his book. His book clarified matters for me so I elected bi-lateral mastectomy. His book and his advice led to early detection and complete recovery. Thank you Dr. Rosen!
