EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description “A tour de force. If you read this book, you’ll never look at other people in quite the same way again.”—Malcolm Gladwell Renowned psychologist Paul Ekman explains the roots of our emotions—anger, fear, disgust, sadness, and happiness—and shows how they cascade across our faces, providing clear signals to those who can identify the clues. As featured in Malcolm Gladwell’s bestseller Blink, Ekman’s Facial Action Coding System offers intense training in recognizing feelings in spouses, children, colleagues, even strangers on the street. In Emotions Revealed, Ekman distills decades of research into a practical, mind-opening, and life-changing guide to reading the emotions of those around us. He answers such questions as: How does our body signal to others whether we are slightly sad or anguished, peeved or enraged? Can we learn to distinguish between a polite smile and the genuine thing? Can we ever truly control our emotions? Packed with unique exercises and photographs, and a new chapter on emotions and lying that encompasses security and terrorism as well as gut decisions, Emotions Revealed is an indispensable resource for navigating our emotional world. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 20 reviews)
| Lie to me by M. Schauble 3 Stars December 20, 2009 I bought this book because Paul Ekman helps to write Fox show - Lie to me; which is great. I expected he would explain the universal emotions and feeling through real cases or even fictional exemples. Anyway, it is a good book.
| | Amazing Book by Steven 5 Stars November 27, 2009 This book contains very useful information and should not be glanced over lightly. Though the information is presented and backed up in a scientific manner, it still does not detract from the overall usefulness of this book.
| | Emotional tells by A. O. (USA) 5 Stars November 11, 2009 If you have ever had a feeling that something was not being said during a conversation, you may have been reading the other person's expressions. This book explains in works and pictures how we humans all have certain facial movements for emotions. A good primer for understanding interactions. The author's daughter is the model for most of the expressions but also included are real life photos. Very interesting.
| | Unbelievably Good by Dental Student, "Dave" 5 Stars October 25, 2009 This book is the culmination of decades of research done by Dr. Ekman. It's expansive and easy to read. It's one of my favorite non-fiction books.
| | Understanding emotions by Ismail Bayraktar (Turkey) 5 Stars October 08, 2009 It is very interesting that I can now understand how someone is feeling from the face muscles. Since I liked what author says, I bought his second book titled "Telling Lies". This book is on a "niche" area. For those who are interested, they will definitely like it.
