Wave is a book of illustrations about a little girl going to the beach and playing in and with the waves.

Catch the Wave by Steven C. Thedford (Atlanta, GA United States) 5 Stars

Wave is a refreshing book, it stimulates the imagination. Moreover, the book tells the story of a girl at the beach. During her adventure she daydreams, splashes in the water, runs from a wave, licks her tongue at the water, and collects seashells. At the end of the day, her mother takes her home. By the way, the book has no words, but children will make up their own story as my daughter did as she flipped through the pages of the incredible illustrations.

Great gift for all ages and languages by Picky Reader 5 Stars

Wave by Suzy Lee is an extraordinary picture book that has no words and needs none. It shows a little girl exploring how to play with a wave, under the watchful eyes of five seagulls (and Mom, who appears briefly at the beginning and end). The book is hilarious, tender, gorgeous, and its utter simplicity makes it a work of genius. The charcoal drawings capture the essence and totality of the little girl's (and birds') feelings, in turn curious, impish, playfully spooked, and wild with life. The pictures are done in grays and an exquisite blue, classy and lively but not primary blue, dusty blue, or baby blue--each one a frameable work of art. I'm getting several copies, including as an ideal gift for foreign-language-speaking families.

This is a great book to read for any age. Most of all the illustrations are wonderful...simple but vibrant blue colors.

The Wave by Susan E. Brennan (Peabody, MA) 5 Stars

This is my 2 1/2 year old grandaughter's favorite book. We got it from the library for 4 weeks and she hated to return it. I bought it and had it shipped to her house. She asks her mother to read it to her every night. She says that she loves the little girl and the beach. The book has no words but great imaginative pictures that tell a story.

At last, the master
Says, "That's hard to explain." And
That is all she says.

This unsatisfying answer sets Wabi Sabi on a journey to uncover the meaning of her name, and on the way discovers what wabi sabi is: a Japanese philosophy of seeing beauty in simplicity, the ordinary, and the imperfect.
