Great Book! by Jacob Clemen 5 Stars
November 12, 2009
One of my friends actually loaned me her copy of this book and I liked it so much that I had to buy my own! This book helped me uncover the origins of several songs I had been hearing. I was pleased to see that there was not just a recording (or several, in some cases) for each particular bird, but also a map of the birds distribution.

Good news - excellent review by Judith R. Prokosch (St Paul, MN USA) 5 Stars

I read the previous reviews for this birdsong book and those for the Western North America book which I purchased soon thereafter. The books are a thank you gift for a friend who owns a cabin. She has a great bird book written for young people and I told her the story of a co-worker who purchased a book for his wife which included the birdsongs. My friend was enthusiastic which gave me the idea for the gift and the reviews at Amazon.com were very helpful. I will purchase both books again before the end of the year for my father - he is 92 years old and blind but thoroughly enjoyed hearing the birdsongs. I love both books; they are well worth the money; I recommend them. I encountered two problems that other reviewers did but I hardly took it so negatively. The portion that plays the birdsong came apart from the first book - a little hot glue and as good as new. The second book came with dead batteries - again no big deal - I would have changed the batteries anyway. Life in a warehouse has got to be tough and a little TLC goes a long way.

We already own Bird Songs: 250 North American Birds in Song, but in includes so many birds that we don't see around here. In this new Backyard Birdsong Guide, at long last we have a guide to the songs of the birds we hear around our house and woods. Often we cannot see them, so having this guide helps us identify them by sound. We also like the fact that it includes different calls/songs from many of the birds. A great investment for anyone who enjoys birds and hopes to identify them with more accuracy!
