Product Description
The Immune System, Second Edition has been designed for use in immunology courses for undergraduate, medical, dental, and pharmacy students. This class-tested and successful textbook synthesizes the established facts of immunology into a comprehensible, coherent, and up-to-date account of how the immune system works, rather than presenting immunology as a chronology of experiments and discoveries. Emphasizing the human immune system the text has been designed to break down the barriers which often divide basic and clinical immunology. The reader-friendly text, section and chapter summaries, and full-color illustrations make the book accessible and easily understandable to students. The Immune System is adapted from Immunobiology by Janeway, Travers & Walport. New in the Second Edition:-Inclusion of end-of-chapter questions throughout the book. Questions consist of a mix of clinical and basic science. Detailed answers to all questions are provided in the back of the book.-Completely updated throughout.-Even greater emphasis on human immunity.-Enhanced and revised treatment of the complement system, including new figures and icons to clarify concepts.-Increased emphasis on human genetics throughout the book.-Expanded and updated treatment of innate immunity, particularly the mucosal system.

Worse condition than described. by Lindsay 1 Stars

Book came in much worse condition than described. Pages are falling out and nearly everything is highlighted.

Decent, but by far the best available by A. Martinez (IL) 4 Stars
August 03, 2009
This book will not rival the simplicity of Klein's reviews of organic chemistry, or the detail of Grey's Anatomy. However it is by far the best immunology book availabe currently, and at a very affordable price as science text books go. The author borrows diagrams and charts from more complete (and much more detailed) Immuno text books, and condenses chapter information very well without missing out on important details. The only downsides are that it is slightly outdated (Tregs, and T-cell production mostly) and I found it had too few real life examples, when such examples applied. In short, if you need an extra text to bolster your immuno knowledge and don't want to read too many useless details this one should do the job, and it's cheap too!

Thank you for providing high-quality used textbooks to students; this book sells for much more new at the bookstore. I would definitely buy from you again.

This book was well written, easy to understand, and had good diagrams and tables. I highly recommend this book as someone who had never taken Immunology.

dense! poor reading by Young Doc (Chicago, IL) 2 Stars

I am a second year medical student, and bought this as an accompaniment to the class notes. I found it too dense to be useful, and overpriced for the amount of book you receive (especially as a softcover). As long as your class notes are good, I would not recommend this book. As an aside, I have read Robbins Basic Pathology cover-to-cover, so I'm not just saying I don't like to read in addition to notes...I just really hated this book.
