Carbon Fibers and Their Composites (MATERIALS ENGINEERING)

Carbon Fibers and Their Composites (MATERIALS ENGINEERING)
by Peter Morgan (Author)

Most literature pertaining to carbon fibers is of a theoretical nature. Carbon Fibers and their Composites offers a comprehensive look at the specific manufacturing of carbon fibers and graphite fibers into the growing surge of diverse applications that include flameproof materials, protective coatings, biomedical and prosthetics applications, textiles, batteries and fuel cells, automotive applications, construction, and even musical instruments.

This useful guide provides a hands-on...

Finite Element Analysis of Composite Materials

Finite Element Analysis of Composite Materials
by Ever J. Barbero (Author)

Designing structures using composite materials poses unique challenges due especially to the need for concurrent design of both material and structure. Students are faced with two options: textbooks that teach the theory of advanced mechanics of composites, but lack computational examples of advanced analysis; and books on finite element analysis that may or may not demonstrate very limited applications to composites. But now there is third option that makes the other two obsolete: Ever J....

Advanced Mechanics of Materials and Applied Elasticity

Advanced Mechanics of Materials and Applied Elasticity
by Anthony E. Armenàkas (Author)

This book presents both differential equation and integral formulations of boundary value problems for computing the stress and displacement fields of solid bodies at two levels of approximation - isotropic linear theory of elasticity as well as theories of mechanics of materials. Moreover, the book applies these formulations to practical solutions in detailed, easy-to-follow examples.

Advanced Mechanics of Materials and Applied Elasticity presents modern and classical methods of...

CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 2 reviews)

Good material on fibers and matrix, some heavy chemistry in it by Tim Mckinley (IL, USA) 3 Stars
September 15, 2009
The book hits all the topics anyone new to the subject would be interested in. The author goes a bit to far into detail for an average mechanical engineer. But if your a chemical engineer or like the chemistry aspect, than there's plenty for you. Good illustrations and graphics to go along with the text.

I would have published my thesis without this book... by K. J. Green (USA) 5 Stars

If it had not been for the 2nd and 3rd edition of this text, I definately would have had great trouble publishing my MS thesis. It is loaded with very insightful information concerning every aspect of Fiber-Reinforced Composites, from its constituents all the way to predicting its microstructural and macrostructural behavior. I highly recommend this book for any Materials Scientist that works with any kind of structure development.
