EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Combining scientific principles with movement and imagery exercises that are both effective and fun, this book demonstrates how to create a stronger body by toning the pelvic floor. Focusing on the biomechanics of the pelvic floor, which acts as a support for the inner organs and contains a passage for the urethra, the sex organs, and the rectum, this guide shows how the pelvic floor plays an important role in almost all movements, balance, and body posture. The exercises train the muscles and joints and improve the tone of the organs, thereby increasing energy flow, eliminating incontinence, and keeping sexual organs healthy. The mind-body techniques are used to increase awareness of this part of the body and to improve sexual stamina. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 21 reviews)
| Brilliant! by S. K. Harrell (NC) 5 Stars May 25, 2009 This book is excellent. If you are working on a specific physical condition, it's fantastic. I used it during a troublesome pregnancy. Even if you aren't managing a condition, the concepts are great for maintaining form. For someone familiar with Pilates, this approach goes hand-in-hand. The use of imagery is very easy to do, and with much less stress than comes with physical therapy or other methods of muscle isolation. The only thing that could be better than this book is if Franklin, himself, came with it.
| | fantastic book by Mego (Seattle, WA USA) 5 Stars March 10, 2009 When i first got this book I was really excited but I found it hard to keep up with. I put it down for a few months. When I picked it up again, I made sure to do all the exercises while I read them, I immediately knew that was my problem. I think people that have not liked this book didnt' because it is very specific, the movements are very subtle and they dont have the patience to reread the same page over and over again. I find that when I do the exercises I still start with ex no. 1 and work my way through them one at a time. Someday I may not have to do that, but not for now I do since there is so much concentration needed. I highly recommend this to all people, but know that it takes yes, effort!
| | Strong Pelvis, Strong Body by Leslie A. Fron (USA, Earth) 5 Stars January 30, 2009 Another excellent book by Eric Franklin. I highly recommend this book, especially for those looking to start an exercise regime or lose weight. When your skeleton is properly aligned your organs shift back into place, allowing the body to work more efficiently. In turn, you will lose weight. Others who would benefit greatly are pre/post pregnant moms and men & women with osteoporosis. This is a thorough read on the topic.
| | Glad I can return this to the library...... by A Reader (Canada) 1 Stars October 07, 2008 Based on the glowing reviews, I checked out this book. It was a slow, slogging, complicated text that wasn't easy to follow or understand. After the discussions on chakras, prana, chi, meridians, nadis, imagery and a seemingless endless anatomical treatise, I was ready for a long nap.
If you are looking for a straightforward book with a series of exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor, look elsewhere.
| | Gets to the bottom of things.... by John R. Hawkins (Bellingham, WA) 5 Stars August 31, 2008 There are times when it is difficult to understand the book. The instructions can be as convoluted as the systems in the body, but once you figure them out they work very well. I have a greater feeling of wellness and better understanding of my body. I am more in tune with the interconnectedness of the body and have more to integrate into my yoga classes. It is better than the cover, even. I recommend it
