EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description "Blurb & Contents" The wave optics of ultrashort pulses--an area experiencing rapid growth--is closely scrutinized in this completely up-to-date survey, which emphasizes new problems connected with the propagation of the shortest possible pulses. You'll find a presentation of the principles of the Fourier optics of short wave packets propagating in linear dispersive media. Discusses the development of femtosecond laser systems along with the feasibility of controlling pulse shape. Contents: Short Optical Pulses in Linear Dispersive Media. Self-action of Optical Pulses; Self-modulation, Self-compression, Solitons, and Instabilities. Parametric Interactions and Coherent Scattering of Femtosecond Pulses. Fast Phase Control. Compression and Shaping of Optical Pulses. Optical Solitons. Picosecond and Femtosecond Pulses in Optical Information Systems. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 1 review)
| Complete reference of ultrashort laser pulse phenomena. by cshaw@comp.uark.edu (Fayetteville, Arkansas (USA)) 5 Stars December 13, 1998 This book provides the reader with a very good review of ultrashort laser pulse phenomena. Just about every issue is covered and the book reads very well. It is very dense in that there is a lot of material contained in it. I was very captivated in reading it as it contained both what I was looking for in it as a reference and many other fascinating topics which I learned a lot from by reading. It certainly is both a good introduction to many facettes of ultrashort laser pulses and a good reference.
