James E. Van Buskirk was wrong... by Superman (Dallas, TX) 5 Stars
October 02, 2009
The review from Library Journal that is so disparaging was written by James E. Van Buskirk, a gay librarian from San Francisco who contributed an article titled, "Queer Career" for a book edited by Norman G. Kester entitled, Liberating Minds: The Stories and Professional Lives of Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Librarians and Their Advocates. Here is a quote from that article by Buskirk - concerning being asked to review gay and lesbian titles by Library Journal - that illustrates why he is unfit to provide a review for any books about AIDS that don't toe the party line: "I quickly realized that I had the potential to influence the acquisition of lesbian and gay materials by librarians all over the country. I took this position seriously and have continued to try to word my reviews so that librarians would be encouraged to acquire deserving titles for their collection" Clearly Van Buskirk has taken that job too seriously and is now wording his reviews in such a way to discourage book buyers from titles he finds unpalatable. Van Buskirk accuses Fumento of an "insidiously homophobic, flippant style" something I'm sure he would accuse any author of who doesn't agree with the gay and lesbian polemic concerning AIDS funding. Anyone who has read the book or knows Fumento is well aware that Fumento is anything but "homophobic". This is a man that was an AIDS analyst and attorney for the US Commission on Human Rights. Nothing in his life or work has ever suggested that he is homophobic. I wonder if individuals in the gay and lesbian community are aware that hurling the accusation of homophobia has utterly and completely lost any meaning, because it is leveled at anyone that disagree with their position(s)? The bottom line is, Van Buskirk owes Fumento an apology for this accusation and Library Journal should immediately retract this review. Van Buskirk concludes in his review that Fumento's "argument is contradicted by the continuing spread of AIDS among heterosexuals". Time has borne Fumento out to be very correct, as the incidents of AIDS in the heterosexual community has not grown, in fact it has drastically decreased. Cases within the heterosexual community are often the result of IV drug usage or sex with said. Fumento's book can now be said to be uncannily prophetic and accurate in the extreme, while Van Buskirk was wrong in more ways than one.

Still right on 18 years later by Matthew Iofe (Brooklyn, NY USA) 5 Stars

Fumento, Gordon Stewart, and others who disputed that HIV would be a pandemic in the general heterosexual population have finally been vindicated. The independent published an article a few weeks ago about how the threat of a heterosexual epidemic is over. It is obvious that AIDS is far from the disaster that was forecast in the 1st world countries. It has confided itself to the so-called trash can of society - junkies, homosexuals, whores, and Johns. As far as Africa proving the heterosexual epidemic that is rubbish. "AIDS" in Africa is the relabeling of old diseases. Africans need nutritious food, clean drinking water, medications for endemic diseases, and other basics, not condoms and "partner reduction". I dare anyone to visit the disease ridden slums of Africa. Sex is the last thing on peoples minds there!

One of the best books of the last 50 years by Swami B (Harlem, NY USA) 5 Stars

This book is one of the best I've ever read, and is a brave statement from a daring journalist, Michael Fumento, who was willing to prick the bubble of AIDS overhype when few others in the lazy mainstream media were willing to challenge the hotheaded claims of AIDS activists (no wonder newspaper readership is in steady decline--newspapers have continually sacrificed their credibility at the altar of hype and untruth, but fortunately, they now have to face brutal competition from other media outlets). It is now nearly 20 years since this book was published, and its analysis can only be described as prophetic: AIDS is not an epidemic among the U.S. heterosexual community and never will be (we should be more concerned about Asian bird flu). AIDS is a lifestyle disease more than anything else, like lung cancer and emphysema, and its spread could have been easily prevented had people been more willing to wear a condom and not share drug needles. Insisting on a drug cure was a reckless waste of resources, and nearly 30 years after AIDS was diagnosed, guess what? There still is no cure. It is a manageable condition similar to high cholesterol and diabetes. In fact, the best hope may be that HIV eventually mutates into another harmless virus that lives symbiotically within a human host. The best way to halt the spread of HIV in Africa is through education. Cultures that cannot accept safe sex practices are destined to be extinguished. No particular culture on earth is entitled to survive its own recklessness.

This is a book the Homosexual lobby will have a great deal of trouble with as it doesn't fit their agenda. The claims are backed by real science and the conclusions are sound. Read the book without an agenda and you will come away better for the experience. Don't live in fear. There is no need to.

Considering that you can round off the HIV+ homosexual population of America when talking about AIDS numbers in Africa, the conclusions of this book are specious to say the least. If you're an ultra conservative who likes blaming the price of gas on gay marriage, no doubt reading this book will make you feel good.

Serious Adverse Events: An Uncensored History of AIDS

Serious Adverse Events: An Uncensored History of AIDS
by Celia Farber (Author)

At an April 1984 press conference, government researchers announced that the cause of AIDS--the disease then terrifying the nation as if it were a Biblical scourge--was a "retrovirus" called HIV.

Many scientists, including two Nobel winners, said it wasn't possible. But they were quickly drowned out by the ecstatic response from activists, government-funded researchers, a relieved public and, especially, the pharmaceutical industry, which quickly offered a treatment for HIV--a drug...

Science Sold Out: Does HIV Really Cause AIDS?
by Rebecca Culshaw (Author), Harvey Bialy (Foreword)

There are many well-established scientific reasons that the HIV/AIDS hypothesis is highly doubtful. In Science Sold Out, Rebecca Culshaw describes her slow uncovering of these reasons over her years researching HIV for her work constructing mathematical models of its interaction with the immune system. It is rare that a researcher who has received funding to study HIV ever expresses any doubt in the paradigm, and an even rarer event still when she abandons the field altogether. This book...

In his nearly thirty years at CBS News, Emmy Award winner Bernard Goldberg earned a reputation as one of the preeminent reporters in the television news business. When he looked at his own industry, however, he saw that the media far too often ignored their primary mission: to provide objective, disinterested reporting. Again and again he saw that the news slanted to the left. For years, Goldberg appealed to reporters, producers, and network executives for more balanced reporting, but no one...
