| The Lap Band Chronicles thinks... by the lap band chronicles 2 Stars January 30, 2009 I'm not so sure about this one. I read through the recipes and what struck me was the amount of heavy cream, high fat cheeses and, butter were used in the dishes. I also checked out the nutrition information after each dish and I really couldn't find much with a high protein count and/or low calories. Perhaps this book is best suited to bariatric patients who are at least a year out from their surgery and have reached and are able to maintain their weight loss goal. No pictures either, bummer! I give it one lap band. [...]
| | How to Cook After Weight Loss Surgery by R. Scanlon (Albuquerque, NM USA) 5 Stars October 12, 2008 I haven't actually made any of the receipes in this cookbook yet, but I did look through it and they look wonderful. It is written by a man who has lost a LOT of weight since his weight loss surgery, so I believe he knows what he is talking about. I noticed that many of the ingredients seemed like they were not "diet" foods and that is a good thing. It looked like you could make these dishes for the whole family and eat them yourself - perfect!!! I look forward to making some of these meals, snacks, and deserts.
| | A disappointment by George Harris (Hershey, PA United States) 1 Stars December 29, 2007 With all due respect to the author, recipes including with pork rinds and heavy cream is not what I expected.
