| Marriage on the Rocks by Sherry Bueckmman (Cincinnati, Ohio) 5 Stars July 06, 2009 Very good book, very easy to read and understand. A must read for anyone who has a close relationship with an alcoholic. This book will definitely help you to understand how the addict affects you in the way it does and includes helpful information to figure out how to deal with what you are feeling.
| | Awesome Insight Book by Marie Curry (California) 5 Stars June 01, 2009 This book was so insightful that I read it once and then read it again. I believe that I am now on a path that will separate me from my alcoholic and allow me to believe in myself again. I am so very glad that I read this book and would recommend it to anyone who is living with and/or married to an alcoholic.
| | one of the best books on alcoholism... by Tonya Cozart 5 Stars May 12, 2009 If you are having trouble with the alcoholic you love, this book will save you and quite possibly your marriage. I highly reccomend it, 5 stars are not enough. As the sober partner, this book gives great, strait-forward advice on how to love your alcoholic, and stay married, AND be happy. I read it about once a year just to stay on track. It has allot of AL-ANON qualities, but mainly teaches you how to live in peace and harmony in the midst of a chaotic life. If you are searching for help, this book is it, buy it now.LOVE IT, you will not be disappointed.
| | Addressed to wives of alcoholic husbands by Book Fan (California) 2 Stars October 04, 2008 The title is dishonest and the book content is sexist. The book is written with the drunk being called "he", "your husband", or names like "Harry". (at least, every page I looked at, because of that problem I did not buy the book). The subtitle should say "Learning to live with yourself and an alcoholic *husband*". I had hopes of finding a good book for a male friend dealing with his destructively drunk wife. So far each book I have found whose title sounds promising ends up being addressed to the woman dealing with a drunk husband.
For women dealing with alcoholic men, what I paged through looked decent, but the book will be a real misfire for those who bought it on the title alone
| | Well worth it. by Allan (Chicago, IL) 5 Stars August 29, 2008 Books written to the spouses of alcoholics seem to be few and far between. I am grateful for this book. I have shared many passages with friends in my Significant Other Group and we've all found this book to be useful, informative, and quite frankly, spot-on. Many of the concepts in this book are consistent with the lessons in Al-Anon. It's really easy to think that you are going through this personal hell by yourself. Oddly enough, you are not. In fact, your life, as painful as it seems, is "textbook" in many respects. This book helps you, or reminds you, of this and that there is serenity to be found. You are not crazy nor alone. I would highly recommend this to spouses of either sex. Happy Recovery reading...
