EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description A couple working six months per year for 50 hours per week on 20 acres can net $25,000-$30,000 per year with an investment equivalent to the price of one new medium-sized tractor. Seldom has agriculture held out such a plum. In a day when main-line farm experts predict the continued demise of the family farm, the pastured poultry opportunity shines like a beacon in the night, guiding the way to a brighter future. "All of us interested in seeing an American rural revival should thank Joel and Teresa Salatin for going to the effort and expense to share their experiences and recommendations for pastured poultry with you." —Allan Nation, Editor, The Stockman Grass Farmer |

| down to earth chicken keeping by Farmer Mom (New Wilmington, PA USA) 5 Stars May 26, 2009 Detailed explainations from a farmer author/speaker about raising chickens both for meat and eggs. I attended a presentation by Mr. Salatan recently and was glad to review his principles and read more detail regarding pasture-raised chickens. Many questions I may have had are all covered in his book. Pastured Poultry Profits also covers companian livestock and home processing of chickens. We now have our first 75 chicks; and I know it will be rewarding work.
| | Pastured Poultry Review by S. Rabe 5 Stars February 25, 2009 This is a very helpful and informative book on how to start your own chicken farm. It has step by step help that appears to be what the author has himself accomplished with great profit. Highly recommended reading and well worth the purchase. Definitely would buy again and did buy another book by the same author as we were so impressed by the first one!
| | Excellent and informative book! by Richard S. Connell (Annapolis, MD) 5 Stars January 27, 2009 Joel Salatin has provide very helpful information for someone who has little or no experience raising chickens at all, much less in such a healthy and remarkable way. If you are knowledgable with the "chicken industry" you will be shocked to find out the results of their methods. After reading this book, you will be ready to take a crack at a much better way. He is very knowledgable and gives the basics for what has proven to be the most desirable method to raise a healthy and delicious chicken. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to know how to raise their own chickens, or for those who just want to undestand better where their meat comes from and why it matters!
| | Pretty good book! by future farmer (Missouri) 4 Stars September 11, 2008 I like this book ok. I have a few problems with it though. It doesn't read very smoothly, seems the author goes back and forth between active and passive voice. I had to re-read sentences quite often. As far as the information goes, it seems that the author has found the one and only way to pasture chickens and he lets you know it. Now, maybe he has, I don't know. I will be using a lot of his advice and methods, but not all. Overall, I'm glad to have this book.
| | Inspiring Book by Rebecca Neilson (Northern California) 5 Stars September 06, 2008 While some complained in their reviews about this book, I enjoyed reading it. If you are into farming on a small scale without going overboard on getting set up this book will inspire you. Covers a lot of information on rasing poultry for a profit. While the focus is on pastured poultry with movable trailers it will also work for just free range as well. A great additon to our farm library.
