CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 27 reviews)
| The best book on its subject by Dr. Bob (Amsterdam) 5 Stars October 18, 2009 Quite simply this is the best book on its subject that I've found after nearly nine months of reading diabetes literature following my own diagnosis as a type 2. It is intelligent, well researched, clearly and concisely written, and above all *inspirational*. Most diabetics are told that no matter what they do their health will slowly but inevitably deteriorate. Jenny Ruhl contradicts and explodes that myth, showing you how - in simple ways, precisely described - ANY diabetic take control of their illness, can lower their blood sugar and start getting their health back. Because much of the book (or at least its advice) contradicts current medical wisdom, it may never win the praise (or the prizes) it richly deserves. It has helped and inspired me and many others. Jenny Ruhl is a treasure - if you're a diabetic, buy it now and start reclaiming your health. And tell your friends.
| | Great book on diabetes by P. Johnson (Sturgeon Bay WI) 5 Stars October 12, 2009 I have read at least 25 books regarding diabetes plus much internet research. This is the best book out there on diabetes. I ordered 10 copies. I am circulating them around two counties in Wisconsin. All I ask is that the people read the book, put their initials on the inside front cover and pass it along to other diabetics, loved ones or health care providers, with instructions for them to read and pass it along. Worth much more than the price.
| | Every diagnosed diabetic should be given this book. by F. Darling (Boston, MA.) 5 Stars October 05, 2009 I've been diagnosed a type II diabetic since 1996. I've always had problems controlling my BG until I've read this book. The author's low carbohydrate diet information has allowed me to bring my A1c's into line without the hunger I experience in a Hi Carb, Low fat diet. Jenny Ruhl has condensed considerable information about diabetes in this small volume. There are also recipes that look very tempting. If you're not sure her advice is correct, she has documented her book with many references. There are also recommended web sites where you can find further information and friends that will help you to deal with the fear and loneliness of this illness. This book has allowed me to take control of my diabetes with very little effort. I would recommend it to anyone with this terrible disease.
| | Great information by L. Muir (Torrance, CA United States) 5 Stars September 12, 2009 This book has been a great help to my husband who just found out he has diabetes. The information is well presented and informative. He has been following the food recommendations and has had a dramatic correction in his numbers. Would recommend this book to anyone with diabetes.
| | 101 by David J. Webb (Huber Heights, OH United States) 5 Stars September 07, 2009 Excellent book. A handbook for the type II diabetic with huge amounts of good information. Use it as an ongoing reference material.
Covers most if not all medications given by the medical doctors. Shows possible side effects.
Tells on certain supplement medicines. Why taking certain supplements actually causes your condition to get worse.
I recommend it for anyone with a diabetic condition.
