This book is the most complete and well-researched baby food book on the market today. Even though it is 600 pages, it is cleverly designed for the busy parent to read only a small part each month as baby grows. | Amazon.com Review Ruth Yaron cares deeply about what your baby is eating--so much so that her bestselling Super Baby Food is encyclopedic in both scope and size. Ounce for hefty ounce, this manual/cookbook/reference guide is worth its weight in formula, packed as it is with detailed information on homemade baby food, nutritional data, feeding schedules, cooking techniques, recipes, and other invaluable feeding tips. Yaron builds her compelling argument for making baby food at home on the simple premise that food profoundly impacts health, especially when an infant's developing digestive tract is involved. Parents will learn why babies should start out on rice porridge, bananas, avocados, and sweet potatoes before advancing to more difficult-to-digest foods such as wheat cereals and milk products. While Yaron's passionate stance and vegetarian bias may turn off some parents, others will be grateful for her strict attention to potentially harmful additives and chemicals. No matter what their eating philosophy, most parents will appreciate the economy and surprising ease of making baby food at home. This is not gourmet cooking; all you have to do is learn how to boil water and operate a blender. For veggies, simply steam some vegetable chunks and blend. For baby porridge, just grind some whole grains in a blender and boil. It's that simple. And when you're feeding your baby, simple is best. --Sumi Hahn |

| Super Saver Knowledge for New Mommies or Ancient Ones by V. Judge 5 Stars September 25, 2009 I purchased this book for my daughter-n-law and my first and only grandbaby.......Jordyn, Well The Good News is this book allowed us to grow in knowledge by leaps and giant steps to feeding the baby in a healthy and satisfying way....... She truly enjoys the mixture of beans and rice; and also the sweet potatoes.....its a Great Book..My daughter-n-law is passing it on as the family grows with Super Babies... Enjoying eating in Texas!
| | Very useful and practical information by M. Evans 5 Stars September 20, 2009 This book is worth the money. Great information on why you should think about what you feed your baby and very practical information and recipes on how to do it. Resourceful, recognizing that people have budgets and time constraints. It includes information for more that just babies, which is nice. Someone recommeneded it to me and I would do the same.
| | Although it can't be blindly followed, it helped us very much with our allergies! by Happy Mom 4 Stars September 14, 2009 Yes, the book has glaring errors (peanuts before 2 years old, homemade spinach and carrots - although the book specifically addresses these concerns on pages 38-39 of my edition, and the like). However, this book has been, literally, a life saver for my children, who have severe allergies. Without this book, I would have never been able to isolate peas as an allergen for my my daughter. Also, the recipes, although quite bland to an adult palate, are enjoyed by the kids. The homemade arts and crafts section is a bonus for the little ones. Overall, it's a good book (if you are supplementing the food introductions with research elsewhere).
| | Good info by K. Steele (Anchorage, AK) 3 Stars September 10, 2009 THis book has a lot of good information and I have used some of it. I would have rated higher but we have been living in a hotel for the past couple months until our house is ready and haven't been able to use the information or make my own baby food because of our situation, but once we're in our house...I will definitely keep this book next to my cook books.
| | Exactly what I was looking for by Christine W. Hawkins (West Hills, CA United States) 5 Stars September 05, 2009 This is a great book. I particularly liked the food chart for what foods to introduce at what ages - VERY helpful!
