Serious defect; it does not work on Mac apparently.... by Jolien Hazewinkel (The Netherlands) 3 Stars

This is not a real review. But I think it is an omission that Amazon does not display that it does not work on Mac. That I learned only from reading the reviews.. And of coarse it is such a pity that it cannot be used on Mac!!! I would have loved it otherwise... it looks great..

Great for use in learning about and seeing images of reef fish. Easy for use in teaching and learning environments. Particular use for seeing fish habits and colors. In depth information. Unfortunately, it does not work with MACS.

This might be a really good product BUT it doesn't work on my Mac - a fact not mentioned anywhere I can see!

A must for divers or fish-o-philes! by ClaireOKC 5 Stars

This is a fabulous idea - love it...it's portable so that I can take it on my dive trips and yet still look like an encyclopedia of ichthyology! Even those rare and infrequently seen fishes. I love searchable resources, where don't have to guess what the topic or subject is called to look it up in the index or contents. Also love the myriad of ways you can look up a fish - that long stripe on the back, dot on the fish's tail, disc shaped, long slender, travels in schools or alone, # of fins, etc. The search is organized very well, pictures are excellent, videos, pronouncing audio (so you can sound really smart), and many more resources. If you're a diver, snorkeler or just love fish, this is an excellent fish id instrument and the price is excellent for how many times I use it.

great fish id software by D. Kacavas (ME) 5 Stars
May 08, 2008
At first I thought the software was too limited in its id's. But then I did the tutorial (yes, I should have done that first) and found it was great, with id's for many many spieces, and many phases (juvenile etc) and great tools to find the fish to id it. The dvd is really nice too! I take my lap top on dive vacations already so this is much more convenient than having to also bring my big heavy Reef Fish ID book.
