Everything one needs to know by S. O. MCDOUGAL 5 Stars
August 10, 2009
On behalf of Peter Clepper: This book is written as if a sympathetic mentor were speaking to you. It is a compendium of everything you need to do as well as what not to do, with reasons why. It has been extremely helpful to me in a small not for profit organization. It both provides information and encourages effective action, in my case for amateurs who are also a group of nervous nellies. It got us moving.

BUY THIS BOOK! by E. Small (Pittsburgh) 5 Stars

I stumbled upon this book accidentally and bought it based on everyone's review (except for two people). I have to tell you that I have almost all of the books on cold calling available on Amazon and this one is by far the best. First of all, Shawn Greene is funny and the book is fun to read. Secondly, she really knows her business and is able to share with us what works and why. She reminds us that prospecting and selling are two different activities, which really takes the pressure off the cold call for both parties. She tells us that the reason we hate to cold call is because of the hard sell tactics most telemarketers use. I felt like she'd written the book for me. I was immediately drawn into it and looked forward to each chapter. I highlighted and underlined everything that was important to me and I've gone back to re-read most of the book. In addition, I took Shawn up on the coaching offer and spent a lot of time rewriting scripts and getting pointers on marketing my services to hospitals. I believe that I will be much more relaxed and comfortable now when cold calling the folks I need to speak with everyday. Shawn was fun to work with, creative, and very generous with her expertise. If you have to cold call for a living, I highly recommend that you buy this book, read it at least twice, then feel confident that you are no longer making a fool of yourself!

Extremely Helpful! by Mary 5 Stars

This book has been extremely helpful to me. I'm new to this type of work and I have found that the scripts Ms. Greene helped me create worked! She saved me from making many of the mistakes I know I would have made without her advice. Easy to read and even entertaining, this book is a must for anyone doing cold-calling.

Editing Department? by Daniel Meyers 3 Stars
December 12, 2008
I have started a new position and this book is required reading. I am 27 pages in and feel that I have to say something about this book now. So far the content is OK and making me feel more comfortable about doing extensive cold calling. I have to say that this is the poorest editing job of any book that I have ever come across, and I am not one of those people that look for mistakes. These just beat you over the head though. There has to have been over a dozen mistakes so far, and repeating 4 paragraphs on page 27 was enough to send me over the edge. I am looking forward to finishing this book, I just hope the editing gets better soon.

Does this sound familiar? "If I can just get in front of more qualified prospects, the rest of the selling process becomes easier. It's just getting in front of them that's the challenge."

You're no idiot, of course. You can talk shop with any customer who enters your store, asks questions over the phone, or seeks out your specific product or service. But when comes to prospecting for new customers, you'd rather have a root canal!
