Product Description
The next best thing to working with a live model, Virtual Pose(r) 3 provides professional and student artists with an accurate and convenient method of viewing the human form--without needing access to a live model and studio sessions. Digital artist Mario Henri Chakkour has created a CD-ROM and companion book that features models in 70 high resolution poses, images which can be zoomed in on and rotated 360 degrees. Painters, sculptors, and other artists will welcome the opportunity to study at length each detail and subtlety of the human form, giving them a deeper understanding of shape, form, and gesture.

Good but still lacking in some respects by Alaskaguy (Anchorage) 3 Stars

Better than Virtual Pose 2, but still lacking in some respects. There are 71 poses, 47 of which are of young caucasian females, mostly tastefull and mostly in natural poses, some strategically airbrushed as other have noted. Good definition, mostly under diffuse lighting without hard shadows. Facial expressions are generally rather serious. Very easy to view, rotate and print pictures. However, I'd recommend replacing the cheap vinyl (not archival grade) disc holders glued to the inside back cover. The vinyl solvents had already turned the adhesive to brown sticky goo by the time that I bought my book.) To export still photos into photo editing software, you'll also need Quicktime Pro...another $29 if you don't already have the "Pro" version. For easy export and photo quality, I still prefer Art Models 3: Life Nude Photos for the Visual Arts (Art Models series) (No. 3)

Totally cool textbook. by Linda M. Vance (Corpus Christi, TX USA) 5 Stars

I've just started my Life Drawing class and this is a required textbook. My reading assignments from this book for this last week was a peace of cake. The drawings and illustrations are beautifully presented. I have yet to use the cd but I'm looking forward to it.

I bought it for school. by M. J. Kinsey 4 Stars

I like the poses this book had to offer, and I like that you can move them around on the CD. I wish you could change it from other angles though, not just side to side. However, there were a few things that bugged me. I haven't looked at the other books though, so maybe those cover it. The main thing was that the models in this book are mostly skinny females. While it helps to see the curves, I would like to see more variety in body type. I would also like to see more variety in gender and racial background.

Great art reference by C. Meriam (Dayton, OH USA) 5 Stars

I'm in college for animation, and this has been a great aid for drawing and 3D modeling. Being able to see so many angles of models helps out so much! I highly recommend for art students.

The best I've found by Kerry Gibbons (Washington, D.C. United States) 5 Stars

The poses are great for the most part. The plain white background is great. The lighting can blow out some features occasionally, but it's not a huge deal. The big thing I would like to see is the camera moving around the figure instead of the figure rotating so the lighting direction doesn't change as you rotate. Otherwise, the CD that accompanies is the best I've found. It has plenty of views and is a lot more user friendly than having to sift through 25 photos of the same model. Highly recommended.
