Extremely unbiased book by Geolobo (Wisconsin) 5 Stars

Deniers is so fun to read. Solomon is an environmentalist himself so he shows no animosity towards the arena. He has so much evidence that I used the book as a reference for my state's US senators in a letter I sent them imploring them not to vote for the Cap and Trade Bill.....do you believe in miracles?

The science is settled? Not hardly! by William F. Stites (Louisville, KY) 5 Stars

Timely, interesting and informative. Read with Bjorn Lomberg's "Cool It". Both Solomon and Lomborg have impeccable environmentalist credentials, and believe global warming is real and probably, at least partially man made, but reach very different conclusions about the risk and what to do about it than the radical greenies pushing Kyoto, Waxman-Markey etc. Anyone interested in this controversy should read at least Solomon's chapter on Wegman (the famous hockey stick) and the concluding chapter which gives an excellent explanation of why some strange bedfellows are pushing for action now at all costs (follow the money trail).Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming (Vintage)

A must read book for anyone interested in the truth by B. J. Gee (Lakewood, WA USA Global Melting Capital of the World) 5 Stars
August 19, 2009
In an environment of hype and hysteria, those who disagree with the perpetuators of that hype are branded as like the Holocost Deniers and rediculed. Solomon presents an intellectually honest and compelling case for opening the whole issue of climate change to the light of day and full intellectual discorse.

This will give Al Gore and friends heartburn... by A. Tao 5 Stars
August 03, 2009
A must-read for anyone interested in environmentalism or has seen Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth". Let me start by first stating that the author, Lawrence Solomon, is an environmentalist himself and not some right-wing partisan hack on the lines of Rush Limbaugh. Contrary to what Al Gore and his followers claim, the science of global warming is not "settled" as in man is solely responsible and that apocalyptic scenarios will occur if we don't do anything. In this book, the research of dozens of high-profile international scientists with impeccable credentials affiliated with prestigious institutions ranging from MIT to Cambridge to CERN devastatingly counter what Gore and the global warming alarmists hype. Though none of the scientists interviewed "deny" that global warming is occurring, various aspects of the alarmists' positions are challenged from poor statistics, ineffective models, neglecting natural factors, and more. The author's columns, published in Canada's newspaper The National Post, formed the backbone of this book and are worth reading as well. [...] Like any good scientist should do, obsolete models need to be discarded and old theories must be revised when new evidence surfaces. This book has made me completely reconsider my views on global warming. Evidence still points that the earth is warming but no longer do I buy into the alarmists' view that mankind is solely responsible and that the world will end should we not impose carbon taxes and other anti-economic measures.

The Deniers - a needed balance to hysteria by W. Dale Felix (ocean shores, wa) 4 Stars
June 26, 2009
The Deniers provides a good source of information to rebut the hysteria generated by "An Inconvenient Truth". Solomon has selected the most credible scientists who have tried to bring rational reasoning into the climate debate - and yes, there is still legitimate debate on the cause of climate change. This is an excellent read for those seriously interested in obtaining a balanced view of the science behind global warming.

Climate Confusion: How Global Warming Hysteria Leads to Bad Science, Pandering Politicians and Misguided Policies that Hurt the Poor
by Roy Spencer (Author)

The current frenzy over global warming has galvanized the public and cost taxpayers billons of dollars in federal expenditures for climate research. It has spawned Hollywood blockbusters and inspired major political movements. It has given a higher calling to celebrities and built a lucrative industry for scores of eager scientists. In short, ending climate change has become a national crusade.

And yet, despite this dominant and sprawling campaign, the facts behind global warming remain...

The Really Inconvenient Truths: Seven Environmental Catastrophes Liberals Don't Want You to Know About--Because They Helped Cause Them
by Iain Murray (Author)

Iain Murray's rollicking exposé reveals how environmental blowhards waste more energy, endanger more species, and actually kill more people than the environmental villains they finger.

A Primer on CO2 and Climate, 2nd Edition

A Primer on CO2 and Climate, 2nd Edition
by Howard C. Hayden (Author)

Much of the world is poised to take very drastic steps to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the hope that doing so will keep the world from becoming overheated. Indeed, some alarmists call for an 80% reduction in burning of fossil fuels (from which the world gets 85% of its energy) by 2050. But does CO2 really control climate? Perhaps we should look at the facts before committing to CO2 reduction policies that would surely be devastating.

Hayden's Primer is based on the notion...

Red Hot Lies: How Global Warming Alarmists Use Threats, Fraud, and Deception to Keep You Misinformed
by Christopher C. Horner (Author)

From the author of the New York Times bestselling Politically Incorrect Guide(tm) to Global Warming (and Environmentalism) comes Red Hot Lies, an exposé of the hypocrisy, deceit, and outright lies of the global warming alarmists and the compliant media that support them. Did you know that most scientists are global warming skeptics? Or that environmental alarmists have knowingly promoted false and exaggerated data on global warming? Or that in the Left's efforts to suppress free speech (and...

Heaven and Earth: Global Warming, the Missing Science

Heaven and Earth: Global Warming, the Missing Science
by Ian Plimer (Author)

Climate, sea level, and ice sheets have always changed, and the changes observed today are less than those of the past. Climate changes are cyclical and are driven by the Earth's position in the galaxy, the sun, wobbles in the Earth's orbit, ocean currents, and plate tectonics. In previous times, atmospheric carbon dioxide was far higher than at present but did not drive climate change. No runaway greenhouse effect or acid oceans occurred during times of excessively high carbon dioxide. During...
