EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Recent, groundbreaking medical research has made a connection between Vitamin D deficiency and 17 types of cancers, including breast, colon, and prostate. Illnesses such as influenza, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and coronary heart disease have also been connected to a lack of this vitamin. Until not too long ago, not getting enough Vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin) was only associated with rickets, the childhood bone disease. Now, Soram Khalsa, M.D., sheds new light on the power of this long-forgotten vitamin. He reveals how to recognize signs of Vitamin D deficiency, which has reached epidemic proportions in North America, and then shares insights from his Beverly Hills medical practice, where he normalizes his own patients’ Vitamin D levels for their optimal health. |

| not too informative by shannon edwards (MI USA) 3 Stars November 09, 2009 This book was not as specific as I hoped. Its written on a personal level from the doctor.
If you're looking for specifics on safe amounts of vit D to take, or anything like that, this is not the book.
It was interesting to read how much we need and can benefit from vit D, and taking it has greatly improved my mood, but this I already knew.

| | Informative by C. L. Nettles (Chesapeake, VA) 4 Stars July 06, 2009 Have only read 1/2 of book. My feelings are that all of our Primary care doctors need to focus and test for vitamin D deficiencies. Everyone should INSIST that their doctor test their vitamin D levels. Very well written and very informative.

| Vitamin D: Antidote to Winter and the Darkness by Michael Merrill (Author)
When sunlight strikes skin it creates vitamin D, and without this nutrient we get weak and sick, are at risk of cancer and lupus, get osteoporosis and get depressed. The scientific literature shows that millions of Americans are deficient in vitamin D. Vitamin D isn't patentable. No one sends out drug reps to sell it to your doctor. So the deficiency that you likely have is probably undiagnosed.
