Product Description
There has been rapid progress in recombinant DNA technology over the last few years, particularly in the area of large-scale biology (genomics and related disciplines). The increasing integration between gene manipulation and genomics is embraced in this book, Principles of Gene Manipulation and Genomics, which brings together for the first time the subjects covered by the best-selling books Principles of Gene Manipulation and Principles of Genome Analysis and Genomics. This important new text has been comprehensively revised, updated, and rewritten to encompass within one volume, basic and advanced gene-manipulation techniques, genome analysis, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, as well as the applications of these fascinating technologies. Principles of Gene Manipulation and Genomics is an accessible and up-to-date guide to this exciting field, and is the essential reference for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students of genetics, genomics, molecular biology, and recombinant DNA technology.

Updated Seventh Edition Published in 2006 by John Matlock (Winnemucca, NV) 5 Stars
April 17, 2006
This book is written at an advanced undergraduate level, assuming a basic knowledge of molecular biology and genetics but no knowledge of recombinant DNA technology or genomics. At the same time the book is organized in such amanner that a researcher already working in this general field might be able to quickly find an area where they need refreshing or up to date information. The book begins with a historical review of research into genes and how the present day technologies came about. This information has been selected so that the student will have an understanding of how today's technology has evolved. It is a short history, and does not go into the many paths that led to procedures that are no longer in use. This book is now in its seventh edition with a new edition coming out every 4 to 5 years since the original publication in 1980. As such, the book is up to date as of the state of the technology about the end of 2005.

Gene Cloning and DNA Analysis: An Introduction (Brown,Gene Cloning and DNA Analysis)
by Terry A. Brown (Author)

Known world-wide as the standard introductory text to this important and exciting area, the fifth edition of Gene Cloning and DNA Analysis addresses new and growing areas of research whilst retaining the philosophy of the previous editions. Assuming the reader has little prior knowledge of the subject its importance, the principles of the techniques used and their applications are all carefully laid out, with over 250 clearly presented two-colour illustrations.

Gene Cloning and Manipulation

Gene Cloning and Manipulation
by Christopher Howe (Author)

Now fully updated to reflect recent advances, this introduction provides a broad, but concise, coverage of recombinant DNA techniques. Emphasis is placed on the concepts underlying particular types of cloning vectors to aid understanding and to enable readers to devise suitable strategies for novel experimental situations. A series of 'real-life' biological problems are also presented to enable readers to assess their understanding of the material and to prepare for exams.

Molecular Biology of the Cell

Molecular Biology of the Cell
by Bruce Alberts (Author), Alexander Johnson (Author), Julian Lewis (Author), Martin Raff (Author), Keith Roberts (Author), Peter Walter (Author)

For nearly a quarter century Molecular Biology of the Cell has been the leading cell biology textbook. This tradition continues with the new Fifth Edition, which has been completely revised and updated to describe our current, rapidly advancing understanding of cell biology. To list but a few examples, a large amount of new material is presented on epigenetics; stem cells; RNAi; comparative genomics; the latest cancer therapies; apoptosis (now its own separate chapter); and cell cycle...

IMMUNOBIOLOGY 7 PB (Janeway's Immunobiology) (Immunobiology: The Immune System (Janeway))
by Kenneth M. Murphy (Author), Paul Travers (Author), Mark Walport (Author)

Janeway's Immunobiology, Seventh Edition is an introductory text for use in immunology courses for undergraduates, graduate students and medical students. It guides the reader through the immune system in all its aspects - from the first engagement of innate immunity to the generation of the adaptive immune response and its clinical consequences. The Seventh Edition has been comprehensively updated throughout, and includes new information on topics such as NK cells, Toll-like receptors, AID,...

Molecular Biology of the Cell is the classic in-depth text reference in cell biology. By extracting the fundamental concepts from this enormous and ever-growing field, the authors tell the story of cell biology, and create a coherent framework through which non-expert readers may approach the subject. Written in clear and concise language, and beautifully illustrated, the book is enjoyable to read, and it provides a clear sense of the excitement of modern biology. Molecular Biology of the Cell...
