| yeah, right by SamiHIan (Centennial, CO) 1 Stars November 17, 2009 SCARY!!!
For a balanced, biblical approach to child rearing/adult self-help try Ross Campbell (How to Really Love/How to Really Parent); he is one of the few authors who really "get it"; and easy to read! I also love Susan Forward (Toxic Parents/Emotional Blackmail), Martha Heineman Pieper/William J. Pieper (Addicted to Unhappiness/Smart Love), and Alice Miller (For Your Own Good).
| | Complete by R. Contreras (TX) 5 Stars November 05, 2009 I bought this book for my sister in law who was pregnant with her first child. Anything that is written by focus on the family is quality parenting advise.
| | Baby & Childcare: From Pre-Birth through the Teen Years (Focus on the Family Complete Guides) by Tandalyn Szczurek (Clyde, TX) 5 Stars June 27, 2009 This is a great book that answers a lot of questions new parents may have. Focus on the Family is awesome!
| | excellent advice for parents by Brenda L. Gates 5 Stars March 02, 2009 This book provides wonderful and sound advice for parents. It discusses how to provide proper care for your child, what is normal for children in each developmental stage, how to help your child in their development, and how to train children (sleep through the night, potty training, discipline, etc.)It also includes a basic medical section on what type of things to look for when your child is sick or injured and what rememdies you can safely do at home, as well as when you need to take them to a doctor. I bought this first for a niece who works in South America where the medical care is not always reliable, and she has found it very helpful in helping her care for her young children. Now, I like giving it as a gift to new mothers.
| | Too superficial by Queenie (Macon, Ga) 2 Stars January 06, 2009 I had read the reviews before I bought but since I treasure anything from Focus, I went ahead and purchased this book, assuming that the "nay-sayers" were a little too intense. However, while the book is very reassuring for new parents, it lacks depth and the quantity of facts I was looking for. I would love to see Focus and the author give it a LOT more meat!
