Product Description
You're not lazy, self-indulgent, or undisciplined. Many people who suffer from sugar sensitivity don't even know it -- and they continue to consume large quantities of sweets, breads, pasta, or alcohol. These foods can trigger exhaustion or low self-esteem, yet their biochemical impact makes those who are sugar sensitive crave them even more. This vicious cycle can continue for years, leaving sufferers overweight, fatigued, depressed, and sometimes alcoholic. Dr. Kathleen DesMaisons came up with the solution and published it in her revolutionary book Potatoes Not Prozac. It gave you the tools needed to overcome sugar dependency, including self-tests and a step-by-step, drug-free program with a customizable diet designed to change your brain chemistry. But now, armed with a decade of further research and patient feedback, Dr. DesMaisons has improved her groundbreaking plan to make it even more effective and easier to follow. Join the thousands who have successfully healed their addiction to sugar, lost weight, and attained maximum health and well-being by using this updated, innovative plan.

Very informative, and easy to understand (even the scientific part)! I could recognize myself and many family members. I feel hopeful that this will work for us. I am starting the program as soon as I can figure out the protein in the food I should eat. I am looking forward in visiting the author

Bought this book for my husband but read it first and found good information even though I don't suffer from the main issues the book addresses. A great read for anyone who is or is related to someone who suffers from alcoholism and or depression.

Well written and interesting by A. Cymbala (Northern, NJ) 4 Stars

I found this book to be very helpful to see the impact of sugar and simple carbs in my mood and well being. Through reading the book I can see I am not really a sugar sensative person in the stricktest definition but I can see the effects of those substances in my diet and as such removed them. Big help in mood and sleep levels.

potatoes brought me serenity by Joanne Beverly (south georgia) 5 Stars

I had 3 major health events in the summer of 2008. I began reading everything I could about biochemistry - nurse's texts and books written by health professionals who had acquired the same diseases I had and put them in remission. I stumbled on PNP after reading something on the Internet. This book has been the generator for my recovery. All - yes, all - of my symptoms have lessened since I began taking the steps outlined in this beautifully written book. Because of the hope, energy, and pain reduction I gained from just beginning her program, I have been able to focus and concentrate on what I need to do, how to critically examine doctors' pronouncements (especially when contradictory), and to get my joy back while doing so. Potatoes not Prozac is for many, many conditions - not merely for the depressed. The program has helped my brain in recovering from a stroke, my pain and fatigue from fibromyalgia, and sharply reduced my food obsession. I recommend it highly. If you can't use the ideas, you'll know someone who can by the end of the first chapter! As an added reward, the author writes clearly about science behind her ideas so that even someone who never made an A in any science course can easily understand. LOL Her lively sense of humor further lightens a book which is filled with light.

I'm only on Step 1 of this book, but already I am feeling the positive effects. It has literally changed my life. I am so much more energetic and clear thinking, it's amazing.
