Nearly Normal Cooking for Gluten Free Eating: A Fresh Approach to Cooking and Living Without Wheat or Gluten by Wendy Holcombe (Palm Springs, CA United States) 2 Stars

I was disappointed in this book. I bought it after seeing Jules at an event and was looking forward to recipes using her special blend of flour and there really isn't that many recipes using it. There isn't even a recipe for bread. The other recipes aren't very healthy they are "good old home cooking" as my mother would have said, and that's really not a good thing as far as health is concerned.

chocolate chip cookies are back! by Shannon R. Hill (Nashville, Tennessee) 5 Stars

Thank you Jules for giving us back our ability to make my daughter's favorite Toll House chocolate chip cookies and have them taste normal! The word "normal" cannot be emphasized enough when it comes to most gluten free products and mixes. They do NOT taste normal in any way! I could honestly tell no difference b/t using wheat flour and your nearly normal flour mix. I already have your cookbook and cannot wait to try the other recipes. Thanks for selling the mix and giving me the convenience of not mixing my own flour. The cookbook is wonderful and I know the mix is too. Thanks for giving us back a piece of "normal" in our lives! Happy Eating Gluten-Free by Leah R. Karpen (Asheville, NC) 5 Stars

While many gluten-free cookbooks are becoming available, this one is different because the author wanted everything to taste as it should. All recipes have been tested. I especially recommend her flour mix for baking.

Nearly Normal by B. A. Mougey (Bangkok, TH) 4 Stars

I bought a container of GF cookies and a sticker showed the cover of the book, as the recipe had come from it. The flour mix is great I have substituted it in many of my own personal recipes. I do not like the fact that some recipes call for PHO's but I just change to butter or saflower oil and it still works out fine.

Incomplete copy alert 4/08 by S. Jamieson 5 Stars
May 01, 2008
An April 2008 order resulted in an incomplete copy of this book. The cookbook had 89 pages and appeared to be complete as its final page was blank except for a bar code. Because it was missing dessert recipes referenced in other reviews, I suspected it was a partial copy. Contact with Jules Shepard and reference to Amazon's Search Inside confirmed this. The replacement book was complete but I wanted to alert other Amazon customers of a possible printing run error on this book. I appreciate Jules giving out her flour mix recipe as I have always liked to cook from scratch. I have had mixed results with the gluten-free pre-made mixes that are on the market. My daughter is gluten-intolerant and very picky about texture and taste. The chocolate chip cookie recipe is a real winner with her. I'm looking forward to trying out other recipes and using the flour mix in favorite family recipes. Thanks Jules!
