Introduction to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Introduction to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology
by Gabor L. Hornyak (Author), H.F. Tibbals (Author), Joydeep Dutta (Author)

The maturation of nanotechnology has revealed it to be a unique and distinct discipline rather than a specialization within a larger field. Its textbook cannot afford to be a chemistry, physics, or engineering text focused on nano. It must be an integrated, multidisciplinary, and specifically nano textbook. The archetype of the modern nano textbook, Introduction to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology builds a solid background in characterization and fabrication methods while integrating the...

Nanotechnology: Health and Environmental Risks (Perspectives in Nanotechnology)
by Jo Anne Shatkin (Author)

Interested in Nanotechnology but Can’t Bear to Wade through Detailed Technical Reports?

While reports on nanotechnology by research and marketing firms as well as governmental agencies are comprehensive and insightful, they can often be tedious to read, expensive to procure, and generally unknown to nonexperts interested in this technology. Offering a reader-friendly and affordable alternative to these options, Nanotechnology: Health and Environmental Risks introduces risk analysis as a...

Nanotechnology: Legal Aspects (Perspectives in Nanotechnology)

Nanotechnology: Legal Aspects (Perspectives in Nanotechnology)
by Patrick M. Boucher (Author)

Existing laws have a generality that permits them to be applied to nanotechnology, but eventually it will be necessary to generate legislation targeted to issues specific to nanotechnology. As nanotechnology continues to develop into commercially viable products, legal doctrines are increasingly likely to play an important role in protecting intellectual property, facilitating financial transactions, and handling health, safety, and environmental issues.

EDITORIAL REVIEWS

Product Description
Nanotechnology promises to be the next great human technological revolution, but such change often comes at the price of unforeseen consequences. Nanotechnology: Ethics and Society explores several of the practical and ethical dilemmas presented by this technological leap. This book provides a framework for deciding how to best take advantage of nanotechnology opportunities while minimizing potential negative effects. After an overview of the nanotechnology revolution, this text illustrates key concepts in the assessment model and then applies this model to a case study related to human enhancement technologies. A final chapter offers an ethical agenda for addressing the challenges of nanotechnology.

Bennett-Woods Nanotechnology Ethics & Society by M. O. Felix (San Carlos, CA) 5 Stars
March 31, 2009
Nanotechnology: Ethics and Society (Perspectives in Nanotechnology) This remarkable book treats a very difficult subject using plain English. It is not easy reading because the subject is complex but it is a powerful argument for "look before you leap" in what is forecast to be a world changing new technology.
