Product Description
Gastroparesis is an illness that is not commonly known or understood. Some of its symptoms include nausea, vomiting, early satiety, bloating and abdominal pain. Sounds like a routine GI problem. Until I was diagnosed with it in the fall of 2000. I knew that as a nurse, I had to dive into the research realm of this condition and figure out how to best treat myself. Throughout the years, I have tried gastric pacemakers twice, feeding tubes twice, botox injections into my pylorus three times and pyloroplasty procedures. Not willing to give up and let gastroparesis get the best of me, I decided on one more surgery. Would it be the last one for me?This is my story about how gastroparesis has entered my life and how I managed to accomplish my goals while dealing with symptom management on a daily basis. From doctors who told me it was all in my head to doctors who took the chance and gave me a new lease on life. My story includes how I found treatment, the surgeries I endured and my quality of life throughout. My hope is that through reading this, you will understand more about gastroparesis and what can be done to achieve the best symptom management possible for you or someone you know.

This Book Sucks by M.M. Billings (MA) 1 Stars
June 23, 2009
In my view this book sucks! Very little actual information. And got really sick of having her give a complete description of each hospital admission of all the basic admission details. Really! How many times do we need to hear that! It seemed it was just 'filler' for what was a really thin book as it was. Without going through the same details over and over and over, it would have been an 'extremely' thin (uninformative) book. I was looking for real information. This book definately was not it. If you want a book with real information get the book, "Why Can't I Go?" by Chris Lahr. Now that book really is a big help!

Great Book Trish. I read the whole thing in on day. Now I am passing it around so other people can read what we go through. Jan

A learning experience by Mary Beth Roche (Northeastern Pennsylvania) 5 Stars

This is such a great book! I could not put it down, and I don't even have Gastroparesis. This is in no way a technical book. This is from the first person's point of view. Patricia Rosati tells it like it is, in a way that is understandable. I personally had no idea that Gastroparesis existed, but after reading the book, I think I have become more aware of what she must have gone through. Books like this need to be written for any type of disease that one may be going through. Unlike medical books that are a long read, and loaded with medical terminology that is not understandable by the average person who is suffering from the illness. Her book has also made me more aware of people's feelings. When I look at a person who may be thin, I should not prejudge them and think they may be anorexic or just lucky because they are naturally thin. Also, in contrast, I need to not look at a heavy-set person and think that they just eat too much. Patricia Rosati's book is one that is inspiring and a must read for the mind, body and soul.
