| Advise by Luis Blin Munoz (Miami, Florida United States) 5 Stars November 05, 2009 This is old book written by a British contemporary of Napoleon.
I would not give a review but an advise. In the "Gutenberg dot org" project web site exists the same book as html which you can read for free (legally) and see if you liked or not before buying the book.
If you are like myself... there is no substitute for a real book! (Well, maybe in some cases the kindle).

| | History of Napoleon by John Lockhart by Philip W. Mclaughlin (Ticonderoga, NY) 1 Stars October 13, 2009 I was very disappointed in this book, as it was poorly written and without the scholarship one expects in works of history. Basically, it was typical of publications of the various Vanity Presses and I stopped reading after about 100 pages.
Had I known a descendant of the author had served as the publisher, I would not have bought it.
| | Great book about one of the most interesting men ever! by Gerardo Cando 5 Stars October 12, 2009 I guess I did not realize just how many facets Napoleon had. From a very common beginning, a poor man, he with only his intellect and daring was able to transform a country and later Europe to his way.
And much of what he has done is still in effect, I read that the Code Napoleon is still the common law in Quebec, Canada.
I recommend this book to anyone who says 'I can not do it' reading napoleons story will make you think twice before saying that the individual can not make what he wants of himself.
Great book!
| | Read it in one go on the plane! by Felicity Barrington (The Wet Coast) 5 Stars September 10, 2009 I was never one for military bio's or historical bio's of this type. It just never occurred to me that I could get much from this.
However, as a business-women I am reading books on leadership, personal development, etc, all the time. And when the bio of Napoleon was recommended to me as a study in leadership, something clicked and it made sense.
I devoured the book on the plane in one go, and made notes!
Well worth reading no matter what you do!
| | So glad I read this book! by Richard Moore (Miami, Florida) 5 Stars April 29, 2009 Perhaps all the history buffs have read this book, or have better ones to offer, I don't know. But I am very interested in self-development and the potential for people to grow and become more then they are.
So I read this book, based on the editorial review, and made the decision to read it.....and I was so impressed.....as I say, perhaps there are better or longer in depth Napoleon books about the battles, uniforms, etc, but I wanted to know about the man, what lessons I could learn from him about the ability to do something when everyone else was afraid.
And this book made that possible, and I am humbled and have made changes in my life already.
