| Lifesaver for the Grain Free! by A. Hodsden (New England, USA) 5 Stars November 06, 2009 After being diagnosed with severe food allergies to grains, I was at a complete loss for foods I could eat but that would also keep my family happy. I did not want to have to make 2 meals!! I finally found this book at our local health food store, bought it at B&N, and it has been my lifesaver!!!!! Our favorite dish in it is the Crispy Southern Fried Chicken, which we actually bake. My boyfriend, who is not grain free, says it is the best chicken he's ever had and could eat it all the time. Our other favorite is the brownie recipe, however we use PB instead of cashew butter (expensive!!) and add chocolate to it! YUM. I think this cookbook is definitely a great starter for anyone who suffers from grain allergies. Many of the recipes can be altered to fit your needs/taste preferences. I've recommended it to many. It is much better then the first book they put out although there are many similar recipes, if you have that one, you are best to just borrow this book from your library and make photocopies. Happy eating!
| | Well Worth Having by Truth Seeker (San Antonio, TX) 5 Stars March 02, 2009 A good book to have in your cookbook library if you are serious about going grain free. I was told by a doctor that I would never recover from fibromyalgia if I did not give up wheat and sugar. I have basically given up all grains.
Some of the recipes are the same basic ones found in Stop the Vicious Cycle, but there are others that aren't that I am really happy to get, like a pizza recipe that really tastes good. I was happy also to learn how to make honey syrup. There is a good variety of recipes, and true gourmet dishes can be made with almond flour. A person doesn't have to suffer because of missing foods normally made with wheat flour like muffins and pancakes so long as almond flour is available. My only caveat is that almond flour is heavier, so I have to go easy on some of the dishes as my digestion is weak. But overall a good cookbook, well written and well illustrated, that helps make the change painless.
| | Can't wait to make the recipes! by T. Kollmansberger (Wisconsin) 4 Stars March 02, 2009 I have been searching for gluten-free recipes that are actually healthy and work with a low-cholesterol and low-fat diet. I flipped through the book as soon as it came in the mail and I was pleased to find easy AND healthy recipes, plus GF!
| | Great Book! Easy to follow Recipes by Laura Jacob (USA) 5 Stars October 22, 2008 I was just about to post my review of Jodi and Jenny's second book and
was quite surprised by T. Wagner's comments. First of all, dairy
is absolutely allowed on the SCD in abundance as long as you use certain
kinds of dairy. I also found the recipe repeats in this book (which
there are only a few at the beginning) to be really helpful because it
meant that I didn't have to flip through their first book (which I
love!) to find basic recipes like yogurt, yogurt cheese and tomato
paste. I highly recommend this new book and found it to be a great
sequel to their first.

| | Not as impressed by T. Wagner (PA) 2 Stars September 05, 2008 I have used their first cookbook and liked a few of the recipes. This book seems super heavy on dairy, which shouldnt really be eaten that regularly for SCD. I, personally, cannot tolerate ANY dairy, so this cookbook version was not at all helpful. A few recipes are also repeats from their first book---which they warn you about in the preface, but amazon doesnt allude to this in the product description and maybe they should...although I imagine that would deter buyers. I will be returning it promptly!
