Appreciating the beauty and fragility of the ugly manatee by A. Elliott 5 Stars
October 29, 2009
I can't recommend this book highly enough. Text and pictures speak so clearly of the wonderful aspects of this creature that you can't help understanding how important it is that we take care of our environment and respect all living things. Anyone who reads this little book will be touched by the gentle and loving ways of the "sea cow". If you are thinking of buying this for a child, all I can say is YES, YES, YES!

A Good Resource for Children by G. Sweeney (Florida) 4 Stars
May 31, 2006
This is one book in a series about animals. The layout is good and it contains good information which is complete but not too technical for children. The facts used as picture captions and the "fun facts" side bars are a good idea because your eye is drawn to them though the photographs could be better and more varied. This book should be pleasing to reading children and intice them to check out others in the series
