EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Lovely Lake Tahoe, cradled in the heart of California’s spectacular Sierra Nevada, is blessed with an abundance of hiking opportunities. Some of the best short day hikes in the Tahoe Basin and surrounding high country are included in this little guide. From secret coves to windswept overlooks, each of these routes will prove inspirational and invigorating. Best Easy Day Hikes Lake Tahoe includes concise descriptions and detailed maps of mostly short, easy-to-follow trails that lead to scenic destinations around the lake. It’s nearly impossible to find a hiking trail in the Sierra that doesn’t involve some climbing, but you’ll find most of these hikes are not overly strenuous. Enjoy! Features 22 hikes. |

| Good Info on Location of Hikes, but Poor Descriptions by K. Bensel (Portland, OR) 2 Stars September 14, 2009 This book does a nice job of identifying the location of various hikes in the Lake Tahoe area. That is primarily what I was looking for when I bought the book. However, the descriptions of the hikes, including waypoints, is poor. Some descriptions are just lacking in detail, while others have far too much detail, but it's not really about the hike itself. And the book gives an overall change in elevation for each of the hikes, but no description of the up-and-down that occurs on some of the hikes, which is more important -- especially when hiking at 6000+ feet.
| | Very Nice Book by John 5 Stars July 08, 2009 There are many more trails and hikes around the lake Tahoe area, but this short book made our week stay in Tahoe fantastic! We hiked three of the trails in the book and enjoyed every minute!
| | great choice for families new to hiking by T.R. Carter (Sacto, CA) 4 Stars July 30, 2008 We used this book while on a recent Tahoe vacation. Although it was written in 1999 we found the descriptions accurate enough to go on two fabulous hikes (and we are out of shape parents with a 7 & 10 yr old). Bring it along and enjoy the beauty Tahoe has in store.
| | Out of date by K & T (San Fran Bay Area) 3 Stars October 22, 2006 Just took a trip to South Lake Tahoe and used this book to guide our hikes. It's written in 1999, which I didn't realize until taking two hikes, both of which had poor descriptions/directions and innacurate maps.
| | Very happy with this book. by Cathy Felber 5 Stars July 25, 2005 We just returned from our trip to Tahoe and used this trail guide on the Grass Lake hike. It is obvious that the writer actually hiked the trail to write the directions. It was very descriptive of every step of the way. It also fits in the back pocket very nicely.
