Very Informative ! by Tina Brewer (Gulf Coast Mississippi) 5 Stars

My daughter started having some "changes" at the age of eight. I was actually stunned that it was happening so early. I decided to buy this book to help her with identifying that these "changes" were normal since I really don't remember getting any help in this area when I was her age. (That was something my family just didn't talk about.) It was truly very informative! She and I both learned alot about "Stages" of development. I wish I had this book back then for myself. She's very confident about the things that are happening to her body and she feels so much better knowing that ALL girls go through this and she doesn't feel as embarassed about it. Great Book. Great illustrations. (it does have a "little more than I expected" illustration of tampon insertion but I guess they need to know ALL of it)

Excellent, by apoem (Bosque Farms, NM USA) 5 Stars

This title is very appropriate. It is directed to girls who are entering preteen years. It covers your body parts and how to take care of individual body parts. For example, it will cover hair care, washing hair, combing hair, what split ends are and what to expect with your hair as you go through puberty. It covers every part of a girls body down to her toes. I particularly like that this book has little drawings to illustrate the points. They do not use real life models so that your daughter will be looking at a drawing to see what she might look like in a few years, not a model that is probably unrealistic at best. This book is a great start for young girls as they begin to ask questions about their body or notice changes in their body. I think that if you feel completely uncomfortable talking to your daughter and all she got was the information in this book, she would have a good handle on the very basics. I believe that there is more you can say and discuss with your daughter as she grows, particularly along the lines of feelings, emotions, etc. This book glosses or very generally covers some of the emotions tied with a changing body. Well worth the money. Enjoy.

I bought this book for the near future. Girls are growing up much faster than they did when I was a child. There is so much GREAT information in this book. It should be used in schools. Nothing is missed and they discuss the details in a way that a girls can understand and opens up the opportunity for talks between moms and daughter or even dads and daughters!

Good info, but some graphic details included... by Stace (Northern California) 3 Stars

This is a good book filled with some great information. I purchased it intending to open up discussions about her body with my 8 year old daughter, who has had some of "those" questions lately. There is a lot of great stuff, HOWEVER, I was quite shocked when I discovered the picture (cartoon-ish, but still!) that explained how to insert a tampon. That is way more info than I want my 8 year old to have at this point. Good for older girls, or younger girls who are actually developing in that way, but not good for the younger girls who are just curious about what's next!
