EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description This book fills a major gap in the literature of semiconductor lasers by providing, in a single volume, ten up-to-date review articles written in a pedagogical manner by well-known experts. The topics cover the entire range of current activity in the field. The last two chapters of the book are devoted to applications and are intended to provide a perspective on how the research advances described in earlier chapters eventually translate into commercial products. |

| A broad investigation of semiconductor laser physics by Fabio Campolim (Boulder, Colorado, EUA) 4 Stars June 22, 2000 The editor G. P. Agrawal and his colleagues provide in this book a series of excellent papers focusing new applications of AlGaAs (and others) semiconductor lasers. It ranges from the basic intra-cavity equations to optical biestability, four wave mixing, the laser synthetizer and optical communications. Subjects are reviewed in history, mathematical formulation, pratical applications and future perpesctives. It's a very good source of information for those involved in research and engineering of semiconductor lasers.
