CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 30 reviews)
| Ecellent by Joseph Donovan 5 Stars October 16, 2009 This was a used book ,but it was new, and very reasonably priced, I was very happy with my purchase.
| | A Must Read by Judith Wilson (United States) 5 Stars May 22, 2009 For everyone who has ever wondered why certain people in their lives behave as if addicted to a destructive cycle of events, this informative little book is full of startling and useful information. Not about just the obvious addictions, readers will find compelling evidence that the addictive personality is at the core of many negative and disturbing attitudes that influence their most personal relationships. An easily understood handbook for those who are sadly trapped in a negative, self-destructive way of life and for the loved ones who surround them.
| | Helped me to understand what I was dealing with by S. White (Mesa, AZ United States) 5 Stars March 06, 2009 This book was recommended to me by my husband's sex addiction support group leaders. I found it very helpful in understanding how the addiction controlled his life, feelings, actions, and decisions. I actually bought this copy for a friend so she could more clearly see what was going on in her marriage. If you have an addiction or a relationship with an addict, it is an excellent book to get better understanding with. Being armed with knowledge, a person is better prepared to make the decision as to whether or not to stay in the relationship. I eventually chose to leave the marriage, because the patterns didn't change, and with the knowledge I gained from this book and others I was able to see the dead end I was in.
| | Heart warming, life changing, not scholarly by Asian Texan (Texas) 3 Stars November 17, 2008 I personally got a lot out of this book. It seems to mirror a lot of what is going on in my life. However, the book as a whole feels very anecdotal. It cites very little, and gives few examples research wise or in testimonial form of real addictions. That being said, at least for me, the book gives good advice. While my educational background gives me an automatic skepticism of the book, when one is in a ditch, who cares?
| | Good place to start by coolaid 5 Stars November 16, 2008
This book is a good place to start if you are just beginning to look at addiction in yourself or others. Its simple, straightforward, and is written in easy to read language. Some of the examples of addictive behavior feel dated or fictional, but you can easily insert your own relevant situation. They are intentionally written for this purpose, as stand ins. Its also small enough, and short enough, that you can reread the book for ongoing guidance.
