Product Description

Not at all what I thought it'd be... by amlove (Colorado) 1 Stars

This cookbook was soooooooo disappointing. Judging from all the good reviews this book has, I thought it'd be great. I was wrong. There are tons of omelet recipes - who doesn't know how to make an omelet?! And there were only a few pages of desserts, while there are almost 20 pages of sauce recipes. Most the other recipes have ingredients I cannot find in my local grocery store. Maybe if you live in a big city it'd be easier, but I live in a small town. I even tried going to a grocery store in a bigger town (35 miles away!) and STILL couldn't find 3/4 of the ingredients. I thought this would be a cookbook about "everyday eating." Like conversions of 'everyday recipes' into more manageable portions, or variations thereof. When it does convert a normal recipe, it's usually just "use splenda instead of sugar" or some generic statement like that. Now that's just common sense. It was a complete waste of money for me. I'll stick to my Hungry Girl cookbook for now.

Great Book by D. Keenan (South Carolina) 4 Stars

Being a cookbook fanatic and just having had surgery, I was on the prowl for a new cookbook that would help me with my weight loss journey. Boy did I find it. :) My favorite part of this book shows you the serving sizes for each meal for several types of surgery and non-surgery portions. And even a timeline as to when you can eat it.. and how. I have tried several recipes and they are very enjoyable. The cover recipes is especially good. The only thing I caution is that the time frames for many of the dishes are not in accordance with what my doctors advise. However, each doctor is different and you should follow what they say no mater what. The book is only a guideline and can't encompass every doctors wishes.

This is a great book!! It's wonderful for those trying to lose weight and even more so for those who had weight loss surgery!! It is very informative as to nutrition content and whatever stage you are in after weight loss surgery. It is a very valuable asset to me for having tasty food for after weight loss surgery that will also help to achieve my goals! This book was the one my weight loss surgeon suggested and suggests to all his patients, that says it all!!

Fantastic cookbook with great WLS info by Nicole Green-Mower (Austin, TX USA) 5 Stars
May 02, 2009
I purchased several WLS cookbooks at the same time. (I recommend getting them before the actual surgery and go shopping for the stuff pre-surgery to have on hand afterward.) This was the best of the three. The recipes are simple and good and the breakdowns for the different types of WLS and the applicable serving sizes are helpful. The recipes are mainly for 4 servings and that makes it easy to divvy up my portions and the ones for my husband so that we can have dinner for one night and use our leftovers for lunch the next day. I haven't tried one recipe that I didn't like. She does like the mushrooms though! Unfortunately, my husband hates them, so I take them out and try to add them just to my portions, if I can.
