EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the focus in sex therapy was on behavior change. Sex therapists then usually acted as guides, describing techniques and assigning sensate-focused homework. In the 1990s, the availability of a wealth of new information and procedures, combined with our current understanding of the significance of such factors as family-of-origin issues and patient emotions and cognitions, has brought the practice of sex therapy to a new level of sophistication. Designed as a succinct guide to contemporary sex therapy, this book provides a state-of-the-art, empirically based overview of the most common sexual dysfunctions, and a step-by-step manual for their assessment and treatment. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 3.5 based on 3 reviews)
| Very Informative by Courtney G (Philadelphia) 5 Stars April 25, 2009 I ordered this book for class. I have only read a little of it, but what I have read is very easy to read and informative. It's similar to the DSM for sexual dysfunctions but a lot easier language!
| | Good by Andrew White 4 Stars May 30, 2006 This second edition is one of the best treaties on the issue of sexual disorders that I have ever read. Completed by the first edition this pack is something that you not want to miss. A great book that does disappoint in some areas[...].
| | Not Helpful for a "Lay" Reader by Martha Mckie (Jacksonville, FL USA) 2 Stars June 11, 2000 This book is not one I would recommend for "personal enrichment" use. It is very technical, with the usual statistical graphs, etc. I found the categories considered to be components of dysfunction somewhat interesting.
