EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Since the First Edition appeared, Air Pollution Control: A Design Approach has become the leading air pollution control text on the strengths of good writing, comprehensive coverage, an emphasis on design, and excellent real-world examples. The Third Edition continues this tradition of excellence, incorporating new and updated information throughout the text while retaining the topical organization and features that have made it an invaluable learning tool for instructors and students alike. The Third Edition successfully achieves two main objectives. First, it presents detailed information about air pollution and its control. Causes, sources, effects, and regulation of air pollution are discussed, as well as the economic analysis necessary for efficient and effective control of air pollution. Second, and perhaps more importantly, it provides formal design training for engineering students. Written for engineers from a variety of disciplines, this text offers numerous diagrams, examples, and end-of-chapter problems emphasizing key concepts and design techniques. Outstanding features include: 1) two new chapters: Biofiltration and Indoor Air Quality; 2) current cost estimation data and techniques; 3) updated air quality trends; 4) 31 sample P. E. Examination problems with worked-out solutions; and 5) new end-of-chapter problems in every chapter. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 7 reviews)
| Nice Book by Syed M. Raza (Coram, NY) 5 Stars September 25, 2009 A well written book with clearly explained concepts. A useful reference for air pollution control and engineering work.
| | Good Book by Jane Austen 5 Stars September 11, 2008 It arrived in a decent amount of time and was just like it was described. I would buy from them again.
| | Book is a decent textbook for what it is by A. Varela (Miami,FL) 3 Stars February 12, 2008 There aren't many air pollution books that are out in the market that are simple to read. Many things are broken down pretty simply but some of the questions in the back really pose a problem since the book doesn't really explain how to solve them. Also I think it would be better if the even answered questions were in the back as well.
| | Jfinney by Ann Finney 3 Stars January 30, 2006 The text is not very readable for ease. However, it's redeaming quality is the section to practice the entire design process including econ. Ch 9 is a look into the industry.
| | Good Introduction to Air Pollution Control by Alex Doddridge 5 Stars October 07, 2005 Air Pollution Control by Cooper and Alley, presents a clearly written overview of air pollution and the control processes available for the engineer to choose from.
I have listened to Dr. Cooper lecture. The writing style in this book is like his teaching: well-organized, easy-to-understand, and practical. The book provides especially good instruction in the sizing and cost estimation of pollution control equipment.
