Dr. McPherson's book is an essential, practical tool for anyone who cares for patients who take opioids, whether for acute or chronic pain. After reading this book, you will feel confident that you can start any patient on the right opioid at the right dose. You will even feel more comfortable about routinely managing methadone!
This book is comprehensive but simple and very easy to follow. The content is very well-researched, and information is presented in an unambiguous way. The best part about the book, in my opinion, is the use of many demonstrative cases that help you work through practical opioid prescribing problems that are similar to those you are likely to encounter in your practice.
This book is highly useful for prescribers of opioids, including physicians, advanced practice nurses. It is ALSO very highly useful for pharmacists and for nurses. I would highly recommend it for trainees in all of these disciplines.
Oh, and by the way, it's a pretty funny, entertaining book too. It seems like a pretty impossible thing, but Dr. McPherson has done it: she made opioid dosing an interesting topic.

Dr. McPherson's thorough approach to opioid calculations is helpful for the novice as well as the expert. Her infused humor makes this difficult subject matter very enjoyable. This book is a must for the safe practice of pain management.

Dr. McPherson's new book is an amazing addition to the pain management arsenal. She takes a topic that is very difficult to wrap your arms around and makes it funny and engaging. This is an excellent way to get a grasp on opioid conversions!

Dr McPherson has taken a subject that is difficult at best and downright scary at worst and made us feel more confident. I have bought a copy for each of my PharmD pain clerkship students, and now consider it an essential teaching tool.
