| Best Cookbook by Pamela R. Jenkins (Martin, Tennessee) 5 Stars September 12, 2009 Having a heart attack on 5/24/09 caused me to change many things - one of them was sodium intake. I was AMAZED and DISMAYED at how much sodium is in everyday foods: canned soup, canned tomatoes, canned vegetables, BBQ sauce, bread, bagels, soup mixes, etc. This book solved my sodium problem. Most recipes are simple, involve a minimum of ingredients you probably already have on hand, and so far we've enjoyed everything we've tried(been using it for about a month). The cookbook has 'regional' food (chinese, cajun, italian) and everyday people food (meatloaf, spaghetti, soups, stews, etc.) It also has recipes for foods you use to make other dishes such as cream soups (Campbell's cream of mushroom is loaded with sodium), salad dressing, BBQ sauce, seasoning mixes. The bread recipes are wonderful, especially the honey wheat. The author also has a section for tips to lower your sodium intake, and suggestions for finding prepared low or no sodium food. Can't say enough good stuff about Mr. Logue's book. It has saved me from a bland, tasteless diet.
| | Low Sodium at it's Best by Kenneth C. Monty (Wautoma, WI USA) 5 Stars September 12, 2009 Well written with a wealth of information and useful recipes. The best book on this subject I have seen. Highly recommented to all who need to reduce or eliminate sodium in their diet.
| | Error by Karen B. Wilcha (Hollidaysburg, PA USA) 3 Stars August 13, 2009 I just made the oatmeal butterscotch cookies, and something is missing from the recipe. I added an egg and 1/4 C more butter (melted). I would love to know the right recipe!
Many recipes are good.
| | I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK! by J. K. Hinthorn (Diamondhead, MS) 5 Stars August 12, 2009 I have bought a number of low-sodium cookbooks, and this is the first one that I've liked. The recipes are fairly simple (I really don't like cooking that much), and don't require a lot of weird ingredients. Other books had recipes in which you had to prepare another recipe or two as part of the ingredient list. I don't have time for this. I've given away the other books and rely solely on this great book. Buy it, you'll love it!
| | no pictures by ron watson 4 Stars July 19, 2009 I have trouble gaining water weight without strict watching of my salt intake. Restaurant oriental food is loaded with salt which means I can no longer go to any. I love oriental food.
This book has a section of recipes that seemed like a solution to my product. The front of the book also had good advice for people like me.
I hate cook books without pictures, such as this book.
I have not used a recipe yet, but there seems to be some good recipes to fulfill my dilemma.
