EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Filling a tremendous need, this highly practical book adapts the proven techniques of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to treatment of multiproblem adolescents at highest risk for suicidal behavior and self-injury. The authors are master clinicians who take the reader step by step through understanding and assessing severe emotional dysregulation in teens and implementing individual, family, and group-based interventions. Insightful guidance on everything from orientation to termination is enlivened by case illustrations and sample dialogues. Appendices feature 30 mindfulness exercises as well as lecture notes and 12 reproducible handouts for "Walking the Middle Path," a completely new DBT skills training module for adolescents and their families. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 3 reviews)
| Informative book by D.H. 5 Stars July 05, 2009 This book is a great adjunct to anyone interested in DBT. Not that it should be used instead of Marsha's original, but this one could be considered more of a condensed and easier to read version. The book itself is very well written to the point that I felt compelled to keep reading. The therapy itself is very similar to the regular DBT protocol with the major difference being the inclusion of family. I think this book does a good job at explaining and showing how those small differences make a major impact into the therapy itself. Highly recommended.
| | A must have by P. Averre (Bend, OR) 5 Stars July 05, 2007 This book is wonderful when working within the DBT model with teenaged clients. It addressed issues specific to the adolescent population.
| | Very Pleased by avid reader (Westchester, NY) 5 Stars March 16, 2007 The book arrived in a timely fashion and was in excellent condition. What more can one ask for?
