Start Here to Minimize Chronic Pain by Scuddlywink (Pacific Northwest) 5 Stars
June 22, 2009
If you are looking for relief from chronic pain, stop looking and start here. This guide has everything you want (except total relief, sorry). It is relatively large print, and it is extremely well written and organized. The concepts are simple and target small steps you can take to change habits for better health and overall quality of life. A pain manager recommended this book. He said it comes with a CD, but this edition does not, so I don't know what I am missing. It may seem like you have tried everything and a book could not possibly help. Yet it provides gentle, effective suggestions and a very important sense that other people exactly understand not only the physical, but also the spiritual, emotional, and psychological aspects of your pain.

Managing Pain Before It Manages You, Third Edition This book was recommend to me by my pain management Doctor. so,I figured it must have some validity to it,so I apprehensively gave it a try.stick with it because at times it can seem a little simplistic and over the top, but believe me, give it a chance. And you will learn whats eating at you to cause the pain to become worse, or if you suffer from debilitating pain like I do, it does gives you ideas and ways to try to change your stinkin thinkin. Here is to a life with at least 50% reduction in pain!!!!!

Living Beyond Your Pain: Using Acceptance & Commitment Therapy to Ease Chronic Pain
by Joanne Dahl (Author), Tobias Lundgren (Author)

A rich and rewarding life is possible for those of us who live with chronic pain. Based on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), one of the most promising and fastest growing psychotherapies being practiced today, this book breaks with conventional notions of pain management. These "feel good" approaches—including the use of pain-killing medication—all work to prevent painful sensations. The ACT approach, however, begins with the assumption that pain is a normal part of living that...
