Great Book by backyardbirder (florida) 5 Stars

This book is full of great information and wonderful recipes. Although I have not tried any of the recipes at this point, I am an above average cook and the ingredients are great and I am sure will result in great taste. Lots of food to choose from, keeping a variety for your palate. I'm looking forward to trying the recipes in this book. Great pictures as well.

Great read, easy to understand, more than a cookbook by C. Albers (Portland, OR) 5 Stars

This book has done a good job of giving you great information about a whole foods diet without being "preachy" or extreme. Information is clear and concise, gives great testimonials and follows it up with a reasonable diet plan and recipes. It is more than just another diabetic cookbook. 1st half of book is full of important info on the value of a high fiber, balanced diet and how that impacts your blood sugars. It's not one of these extreme diets where you eat no carbs and a lot of protein. Talks about the value of a balanced diet including carbs and what kinds of carbs.

Although this cookbook has many great diabetic recipes most of them require many ingredients that you would not have normally in the house. Calories are high on some so if you are also trying to lose weight a lot of the recipes do not support it. I did find the breakdown of food very useful and some of the meal plans were good. Some high fiber recipes should be introduced slowly.I would have given the book a higher rating if I did not have to buy so many specialty items.
