EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description With today's focus on targeted and minimally invasive therapies, photodynamic therapy (PDT) is now being studied and used to combat many disease states and to investigate critical biological questions. This groundbreaking resource brings you the latest advances in photodynamic therapy and offers you a solid understanding of the design, delivery and dosimetry of the three basic ingredients of PDT--photosensitizers, light and oxygen. The book covers novel areas of mechanistic and innovative translational approaches. Moreover, it gives you an overview of the important medical applications of PDT, including approved treatments, clinical trials, and investigated therapies for cancer and non-malignant diseases. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 1 review)
| The best text on PDT available by Tyler St Denis 5 Stars January 02, 2009 Dr. Hamblin and Dr. Mróz have produced the most updated and comprehensive analysis of Photodynamic Therapy currently available. From a student with little previous understanding of photophysics and photochemistry, this book is not only easy to understand, but also very interesting. I have learned quite a lot from this book.

| Photodynamic Therapy at the Cellular Level 2007 by Edited by Anatoly B. Uzdensky (Author)
From the Preface The development of photodynamic therapy (PDT) - an efficient method of treatment of cancer and some non-cancerous diseases - is a good example of successful application of results of basic researches and scientific ideas to the practical medicine. PDT effect has been transformed from a pure biophysical phenomenon (death of illuminated infusoria as was observed by Raap and Tappeiner in 1900) interesting for a limited group of scientists to the treatment modality that has...

| Principles of Fluorescence Spectroscopy by Joseph R. Lakowicz (Author)
The third edition of the established classic text reference, Principles of Fluorescence Spectroscopy, will enhance upon the earlier editions' successes. Organized as a textbook for the learning student or the researcher needing to acquire the core competencies, Principles of Fluorescence Spectroscopy, 3e will maintain the emphasis on basics, while updating the examples to include recent results from the literature. The third edition also includes new chapters on single molecule detection,...

| Molecular Biology of the Cell by Bruce Alberts (Author), Alexander Johnson (Author), Julian Lewis (Author), Martin Raff (Author), Keith Roberts (Author), Peter Walter (Author)
For nearly a quarter century Molecular Biology of the Cell has been the leading cell biology textbook. This tradition continues with the new Fifth Edition, which has been completely revised and updated to describe our current, rapidly advancing understanding of cell biology. To list but a few examples, a large amount of new material is presented on epigenetics; stem cells; RNAi; comparative genomics; the latest cancer therapies; apoptosis (now its own separate chapter); and cell cycle...
