| Easy to Follow by H. Linden 5 Stars September 06, 2009 I've finally found a cookbook that supplies nutritional information and easy-to-follow recipes. After experimenting with many diet plans the recipes in this book are easy to read, healthy to eat, and delicious to taste. I've begun the diet and after 1 week I've already lost 5 pounds. Not only this, but the variety of food and snacks helps me when I'm feeling that hunger pang come mid afternoon. Many of the ingredients I already store in my fridge and cupboards or are easily available at the local market. I think the variety and the quick preparation times are also a big benefit to someone on the go and as busy as I am in my daily routine. I have recommended this book to many friends and relatives as well.
| | Great Mediterranean Recipes by Nan 5 Stars September 02, 2009 I love this book! It reminded me of meals with my grandmother who grew up in the Mediterranean. She always made special meals with spinach, dill, lemon, olive oil & phyllo dough, very different than the typical American diet. She always used natural ingredients too. When I read this diet I flipped, it had so many of the recipes and tastes that she had made 50 years ago. They were healthy then as they are now. Now I know how to capture that taste.
The recipes were easy with very few ingredients. The diet is not hard to follow as the food is delicious. There is something to eat from breakfast to snacks. You don't have to be on a diet to enjoy this book.
| | Meiterranean Diet for Dummies by Andy Shupe (Gilgo Beach, USA) 5 Stars August 31, 2009 If you want to learn about the history and benefits of the Mediterranean Diet, this is the book to get. But background information on the diet is only a small part fo the book. The "28 Day Mediterranean Diet Plan" is also a self help guide on how to lose weight. It provides over 40 pages of easy to prepare, tasty recipes. But that's not all. The 28 Day Mediterranean Diet plan also inlcudes a recipe on how to live a healther life. Better yet, the recipes work! I lost 10 pounds in the last month, and generally feel younger.
| | Disappointed by Deborah Scalzetti (Philadelphia, PA United States) 1 Stars July 07, 2008 I was very disappointed in this book. First, it's not what I know to be the Mediterranean Diet. Plus, the book title is misleading - it is not a 28 Day Diet Plan. There is no first day, etc., you need to go online to join the diet plan. It was a complete waste of money. "The French Don't Diet Plan" book really tells you how to eat on the Mediterranean Diet.
| | Delicious Recipes by Anthony R. Menzel (Dover, NJ) 5 Stars March 20, 2008 This book has so many delicious recipes that I think it would make a wonderful addition to anyone's library, whether they are dieting or not. The fact that the recipes are healthy and help those who want to lose weight are an added plus!
I am also impressed by the detail used in the book, not only with respect to the recipes but also regarding the nutritional content of each dish and the time investment required for cooking.
The variety of recipes and planning for a month's worth of meals makes this a diet that I think could be implemented indefinitely, which means that this book helps facilitate lifestyle change, and lifestyle change, and not yo-yo weight loss and gain, is what dieting SHOULD be about.
