Jonathan Ray considers all the important grape varieties - from Cabernet Sauvignon to Merlot, and from Nebbiolo to Zinfandel - describing their character, quirks and qualities. He also reveals the secrets of deciphering wine labels and explains the best ways to store, serve and taste wine.

OK Coffee Table Book by Edward J. Barton (Mill Creek, WA) 3 Stars
May 26, 2009
Not quite pretty enough for a coffee table book, and not quite informative enough for a real educational exploration of red wine, this book is a simple and easy read that doesn't do anything extraordinarily well. If you are looking for a nice coffee table book - look elsewhere. If you want to dive into wines, look elsewhere. If you want a quic, easy intro, this one is OK - just don't spend too much on it.
