Product Description
With composites now commonplace in competition-specific automobiles, it's important for anyone involved in auto racing to understand what composites are and how to use them. This practical and completely illustrated guide takes readers through all aspects of composite-fiber applications with an emphasis on methods and materials for the home workshop. Topics covered include: explanations of composites and their properties, including glass, carbon fiber, core materials and resins; a step-by-step guide to "wet" and "dry" laminating techniques; pattern- and mold-making; and recent advances in both materials and technologies.

He said it's a good one... by Rosie Tomyn (Puyallup, WA USA) 5 Stars

My fiance is working on the restoration of a '36 Ford and is beginning work with composites. He has never used composite materials before, but said this book has helped. He has already begun using fiberglass on the roof and said it's been going really well and the book has good tips on how to start out. It says it's for race-cars, but the information can be applied to all vehicles.

An excellent introduction and guidebook for anyone interested in making their own fiber reinforced composites.

Very good book by SPRIANU Constantin (Bucharest, Romania) 5 Stars

This is a very good book to buy if you are interested in composites. It explains in detail the principles behind the fibre reinforced resins, the materials used and the different laminating techniques, from the very basic to the most complex ones. The explanations are written in a language that everyone could understand even if the reader has never heard of composites before reading this book. A must have.

Good intro to advanced composites by R. Young (East Bay, CA) 4 Stars

There aren't too many good books on the fabrication and repair of structures that use high modulus fibers like Carbon and Kevlar, modern core materials, and high performance resins. While this British title "goes on a bit" and is not for the illiterate, it does an excellent job of walking you through the process of building and repairing parts that would not be out of place on any track in the country. It will also be useful to airplane and boat builders.
