My son is 7, high functioning autism. I borrowed this book at a meeting for parents with autistic children. My son is only 7 and while eating dinner, read this book cover to cover and GOT IT. He now sees things and says "mommy, that is the wrong way" or "that's the right way". He completely GOT IT. I had to return the book but my son asks for it. So I am on amazon now, planning to place my order. But figured i'd pass my GREAT review on. ALSO- I found the book so helpful that before I returned it, I brought it to his school and showed it to the child psyc and she loved it so much that she is ordering it for her CLASS! san

Social Skills Picture Book Teaching play, emotion, and communication to children with autism by K. Montgomery 5 Stars
April 08, 2009
As a parent of adopted and foster children this book was perfect! It addresses various types of social situations with simple words and pictures that any child can understand. Many children, especially those with special needs, do not have normal social skills to rely on. They can be taught with much patience and persistence though and this material is amazing. I found this book to be extremely helpful in teaching everyday social skills. I would definitely recommend this book!

I read this book with my son and he sat still and read along with me -- he seemed very interested in the stories! One day, I "caught" him reading the book all on his own! How wonderful! I will definitely recommend this book!

Terrific, Easy to Use Book by Mardi Enauf (New York, NY) 5 Stars

I'm reading this book to my five-year old, whose social skills can use some improvement. It's well-organized and covers the basics. Acting out the lessons to mirror the pictures reinforces the message.
