Best cookbook ever! by Cara M. Sahd (Lancaster, PA) 5 Stars
October 09, 2009
I love this cookbook! When my daughter was born with soy and milk allergies I was at a loss for cooking as I'm not the best cook to begin with. The recipes are easy to follow, taste delicious, are gourmet, (even with me cooking) and most of the ingredients are available at a basic grocery store vs. specialty or online stores. Even though she has outgrown her allergies I will continue to use the recipes because I love the whole foods concept and this is an easy and healthy way to prepare whole foods!

Caters to the eight most common allergies by Harvest McCampbell (Hoopa, CA, USA) 5 Stars
September 27, 2009
The Whole Food Allergy Cookbook caters to the eight most common allergies - dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish. If these foods are off your list you will find 200 delicious recipes you can enjoy without worry. If only some of these foods are troublesome to your family the "Substituting the Substitutes" section gives tips on adding the foods you can tolerate. Reading through the recipes will entice you into the kitchen. The author is a former professional cook, who has studied and worked in many parts of the world. Recipes have a broad ethnic influence including Caribbean, Italian, Eastern Indian, Mexican, Moroccan, Native American, and Scottish. There are sections for every meal of the day including snacks and deserts. The appendix includes nutritional information, sources for supplies and a general index. Useful information for new parents is included, as well as a discussion on the causes and future treatment of allergies. Whether you are just beginning to explore the possibilities of allergies in your family or if you have been living and adapting to them for many years, this book is bound to increase the variety of foods you can prepare and enjoy. For those who are allergic to foods other than the 8 listed above, it would be a good idea to leaf through the recipes before purchase. Fermented products, nightshades, berries, mushrooms, and various grains are heavily featured. If these or other foods are off your list, this might not be the best cook book for you. But if you just need to avoid the big eight, you have got to have this book! Just what I was looking for by Lynne G. Fernandez (san juan, PR) 5 Stars

Great healthy recipes by Eagle Loft Kitchen (BC, Canada) 5 Stars
July 06, 2009
My son has allergies to wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, and oats. We also are avoiding nuts and seeds until he is older. This cookbook has been very useful for adding new healthy meals to our diet. Some of the recipes that have become family favourites include: Thai green chicken curry, Easy coconut rice pudding, and Cherry dijon pork chops. There are several reviews here that are negative due to the author's use of spelt. The author gives other flour recommendations for each of these recipes, so we have not had a problem finding substitutions. It is difficult to find good cookbooks that provide tasty, nutritious recipes while avoiding several allergens. This book has become one of my favourites.
