| Hire an illustrator by I.M. Boater (Western Long Island Sound) 2 Stars November 24, 2008 Only fair. Yes, it gets to the point. But it could be much better if the publisher had used a technical illustrator to help show the plumbing she talks about. What's a joker valve look like? How would you route a vented loop? What makes one deck vent shape better than another?
I got as much out of the doing article searches from SailNet.com, past issues of "Good Old Boat" magazine, and all the show-off Web sites out there as I did from reading the book.

| | A "must read" for boat owners by Sally J. Page (Columbus, OH) 5 Stars August 26, 2008 This book would be preventive to a new boat owner with no experience in boat maintenance.
It also helps a long time boat owner to find and alleviate problems with boat odors.
Easy to understand.
As long as we own a boat, we will keep this book for reference.
| | Back on the boat by D. Thompson 4 Stars May 24, 2008 I recently purchased a used sail boat. Very quickly after getting it to our home port, my wife reprioritized my "to do list" and "get rid of the head odor" came to the top. Should be simple huh? Not really. Peggy Hall stepped me through understanding the problem and gave a clear description of a properly operating / plumbed system. Brand named product recommendations were also a terrific help! I'm 95% complete now and still hoping to get her "back on the boat"...
