Extraordinary Medical Thriller by James J. Mapes (Westport, Ct. USA) 5 Stars
September 21, 2009
There are three requirements I demand in a thriller. The first is that it grips me and doesn't let my attention wander. The second is that I learn some new information and the third is that it challenges my own beliefs and gets me to think outside the box of what I have always believed to be true. Dr. John A. Elefteriades medical thriller "Transplant" elegantly meets all three requirements. Without giving away too much of the plot, the lead character, world renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Athan Carras is thrown in a moral quandary when he is asked to perform a heart transplant on the son of an obsessed multimillionaire, Terry Flint. You are swept away in the adventure as you are forced to confront your own moral ethics and what you would do given the circumstances that are revealed in this exciting, fast moving medial thriller. Dr. John A Elefteriades ranks right up there with Michael Palmer and Robin Cook. As a bonus, Dr. Elefteriades presents you with thought-provoking ethical questions at the end of the books that will get you to reexamine your beliefs about what is necessary to make the leaps needed for medical advancement.

Transplant is an excelent book! by R. Foss 5 Stars
August 21, 2009
I don't usually read thrillers, haven't read one in a while. This book reminded me a bit of Robin Cook's work. But it is much more thrilling. I loved this book! (If you have trouble getting into this book, keep reading.) I thought I had it all figured out fairly early, but I didn't. Dr. Elefteriades keeps you enthralled. There is a section in the back of the book to help you understand some of the medical references you'll read. If I hadn't met Dr. Elefteriades, (he's my husband's doctor), I probably wouldn't have read the book. And that would have been a shame. I have recommended this book to everyone I know who enjoys reading and some who don't. It is hard to stop reading and put the book down, so plan to read it all at once if you can. I hope there will be more thrillers from this author.

What is the life of someone close truly worth? by Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) 5 Stars
July 10, 2009
What is the life of someone close truly worth? "Transplant" is a medical thriller that asks this question. A doctor is faced with a patient in need of a transplant; the one willing donor is a family member. But the potential donor's life could seriously be jeopardized through the process. "Transplant" makes medical ethics a riveting read from first page to last.
