| Better than "Relationship Rescue" by P.M. James (Bonita Springs, Florida) 5 Stars July 21, 2004 My favorite chapter was "Love and Be Loved." It was all about relationships. I especially liked the lists of ways to show your love, and the authors' thoughts on forgiveness. I loved that one woman told her husband she could forgive his adultery and move on with their life if his "restitution" was a three-carat diamond!
| | Stress? In 2004? 5 Stars June 03, 2004 If you're feeling stressed (who isn't), this book can be very helpful. It offers a clear roadmap of how to assess where you are on the stress scale, how to organize your thoughts and how to attack the problem with long-term solutions. If you want to help yourself (or your friends), this could be for you (or them).
| | Take the tests and learn why you're in toxic stress 5 Stars May 28, 2004 This is a great self-help book that explains why stress -- the really bad kind of stress -- is a major threat to your physical and mental health. It's shocking how many diseases and symptoms are linked to stress. Prostate cancer, even. Breast cancer. Lupus. Plus all the cardio and gastric complications we've known about for years. This is an easy book to read. It's even entertaining, because the authors tell the stories of real-life patients whose lives were turned upside down by toxic stress that came from divorce, finanical ruin, angry bosses, whatever. The self-tests are very revealing. And the tips on what to do to overcome toxic stress are excellent. The authors describe toxic stress as a difficult life situation complicated by three additional factors: some kind of physical illness or damage (usually caused by the stress), depression and anxiety, such as panic attacks. If you need to get control of your life, this is extremely helpful.
